1036: When sh*t hits the fan...
Sometimes in spite of all of our best laid plans, sh*t still hits the fan. Today I'm sharing my own behind the scenes, and reminding you that we do have our own backs!
Episode transcript:
Good morning, daily peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. So I am over here now 4 days out from our massive drive to Portugal, and I'm recovering from a stomach bug. We are so far behind any prep that we needed to do. And like many of you, I am somebody who likes to have a plan. I may not always stick to the plan, but I like to have a plan to feel in control and I like to feel a bit organized. And that is certainly not what has been happening around here because as we so often know, life happens and shit happens. But the reason I'm sharing this today is just to remind you that even when shit hits the fan, even when we can't do the planning the way we want it to, and even when we think it's unlikely to happen, we usually get it done. Over the last couple of years, I've really embraced the fact that I am really good at winging things.
And I think something that comes with embracing that mindset is knowing that I have my own back and that actually being misslastminute.com actually comes with its strengths. While it has taken me a long road to get here, I no longer do so much of the getting stressed out about getting stressed out about things, if that makes sense. I used to spend so much time before a deadline worrying that I hadn't done anything for the deadline and then having to do the thing absolutely exhausted from all the worrying. But as I have learned to embrace how I actually work, a lot has changed. And I'm not saying that that's easy. It's definitely been a process. But I share this today as an invitation for you to get curious about what feels natural to you and what is your own process. And also, as a reminder that you do have your own back.
Even if life goes tits up and things don't go exactly according to plan, generally speaking, if you've got important shit that needs to get done, it gets done. Yes, you might do it different in hindsight. Yeah, maybe it could be better, but the important stuff generally gets done. We might not know how it's gonna happen. We might not know when it's gonna happen. But trust that as much as that voice of your own dream shitter is always around, so is that quieter voice that knows you can do it. So have a good one. We have got this.
So from my hot mess self to your fabulous listener ears, I hope you have a good one. And remember that everything changes when you believe you matter.
