1141: Taking our own advice

This week I'm sharing a reminder that I most need to hear, and permission to not know all the answers!

Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers. And a very happy Tuesday to you. Now, I know I'm not alone in this when I say I am not the best at following my own advice. You might have seen last week was full of reprises that was completely unintended, but I forgot to schedule myself for summer break. And as our bodies often do, it definitely let me know that I was due 1. So I'm popping in today to let you know that the daily prep is gonna take a little bit of a summer break, meaning the episodes are gonna be reprises. You'll still get an episode Monday to Friday as usual. And also to remind you that you get to take a break as well.

Before I was sitting down to record this episode, I was thinking, okay. When am I taking a break until? And the answer is I will be back with brand new episodes at the latest at the beginning of September. But until then, I'm gonna give myself permission to do what feels good. If I get inspired to record some of the episodes this week or next week, I'm absolutely gonna do that. But if I need a break, I'm gonna do that too. And that is my reminder for you today. You don't have to make all of the decisions right now, especially if, like me, you're feeling pretty bloody tired. It is okay to take things week by week, but the most important thing is that you listen to yourself.

Sometimes we do just need to put ourselves into maintenance mode, and that is not a reflection that we've been doing anything wrong. It might be a reflection that we've been pushing ourselves too hard, but my goodness, don't we all? It's so easy to fall into a shame spiral where we start feeling bad about feeling bad and my friends we are not gonna do that. We are gonna aim to look after ourselves unapologetically. We are gonna give ourselves grace when we don't take our own advice, and we're gonna give ourselves what we need. For many of us, that does feel really uncomfortable. And that also doesn't mean we're doing anything wrong. It's just that we're doing something that's pretty countercultural. Probably goes against a lot of the patterns and the things we were taught when we were growing up.

So it is no surprise that it feels like putting on a brand new pair of trainers where you get the rubbing as opposed to your super comfy slippers. I love that I get to start my day with you. I'm looking forward to sharing some favorite episodes over the next couple of weeks. Behind the scenes, for me, this month is all about filling my cup and doing creative things. I can't wait to share what I learn. I've got some really fun things up my sleeve, and I look forward to being back with more pep in my step. If you want to see what that process looks like in lifetime and you're not already part of my email community, I'd love to invite you to hang out over there. You can find out more by going to the therebelrousers.comforward/letters.

There's now a very fun GIF on there. And I wanna finish by saying I am so grateful to have you here, and I can't wait to be back. It really does feel like having a home to come back to and that means more than you know. Past Meg will see you bright and early as usual tomorrow morning. And from present Meg, remember that everything changes when you believe you matter, and I'll be taking that on board too.
