Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Friday to you. Now, when it comes to building a life you love, one of the words that gets thrown around the most is what makes us happy. And I don't know about you, but that feels like a tall order. And also a lot of pressure. I much prefer personally the word contented because it freaks my brain out a lot less, but that's a discussion for another day, because today I want to ask you something that I think is more helpful than what makes you happy, and it is, what makes you feel like you? And to be clear, this isn't about necessarily feeling more confident, But it is about feeling more authentic and just something that makes sense to you and gives you some kind of boost. So to give you some examples, there are 2 things that really make me feel like me. The first one is when I've been using paints and I get paint stains all over my fingers in every single shade of my favorite color. I just feel like who I want to be, and I just feel Like me.

And the second one is when I paint my nails really brightly, preferably all different colors. I spend a lot of my time typing and doing things online and looking down and seeing my nails. In a funny way, it just kind of reminds me of who I am. Now, your examples might be and should be completely different because there are so many different things that make us feel like ourselves. And I can't help but wonder, if we chased feeling like ourselves more than we did happiness, I think our lives might be a lot brighter, and it also might feel a bit less hard. So as you go into the weekend and over the weekend, I invite you to explore the things that make you feel like you. And a heads up, it's okay if you don't know what those things are. For so many of us, life is just fucking busy.

And we can get to a place where we feel really disconnected with who we are in this season of our life. So explore the question of what makes you feel like you in this season? And if you have no idea what that is, take this as your invitation to go on a bit of a personal quest, to try new things, and to find some answers. Have fun with it, get curious, and I can't wait to be back with you bright and early on Monday morning Or in your inbox on Sunday if you're part of my fabulous email community where I'm sharing all the behind-the-scenes stuff, the most vulnerable stuff, the wobbly stuff, the funny stuff of building a life I love. I've been writing these letters for over 12 years. I love writing them. Gonna toot my horn here, people love reading them.
