1480: If you're looking for signs...

You'll always find reasons to not do the thing, but what if seeing the signs that way is your dreamshitter's way of stopping you from doing the scary things you actually want to do?

Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. To kick off this week, I wanted to share a reminder that there is never a perfect time to do anything. I remember sharing this all the way back right at the beginning of the daily pep that if you're looking for signs, there will always be signs not to do the thing. I mean, my goodness, the amount of times that I've sat down to record and I've had tech issues, I've had roadwork, spontaneously starting the car alarm has gone off. All the things. If I took all of those, or even one of them as a sign not to do this, I would have stopped a long, long, long time ago. Now, there are also times when it is just not the time to start in terms of if we're at capacity or we're going through a particularly hard season. And that is really worth honoring.

And I think we can also tell the difference between when it genuinely isn't a good time to start versus our inner dream shitter clinging onto any tiny, tiny reason for us not to do the scary thing. And know that when I say start, I also mean continue. I also mean finish. And they don't have to look like huge, massive actions. We know that tiny progress builds on tiny progress, and steps that seem so insignificant are sometimes the ones we're most grateful we took. Things may feel hard and they may feel scary or intimidating. Simply because they are, it doesn't mean that you're not destined to do the thing. And it is not a sign to give up.

So take whatever you need from this today. And as we're coming into the home stretch of the year, know that this isn't necessarily the time to make the big, bold moves. It really is time for those teeny tiny steps to honour the fact that if we weren't operating in capitalism, we would probably be seriously slowing down and hibernating right now. And also being on the lookout for the glimmers and the sparkles. So happy Monday. Do what you can do, know that that is enough and I'll see you tomorrow.
