On todays episode I'm sharing a rallying cry for rebelliously reclaiming our time, and leaning into the season.
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. So sometimes, rather than doing our to-do list or all the work we've got to do, we just want to curl up with a good book. And my goodness, it is certainly the season for it. So today's daily pep is a bit different because I'm just going to encourage you to do the absolute essential things you have to do today, or even the whole of this week, and then make time for a good book. And when I say good book, insert here something that you really love doing, that you wish you could have more time for, and that makes you feel really good. For me, I'm also really enjoying audiobooks at the moment, and it feels like a real treat because my tendency is always to put on something that I can learn from, and it's just nice to escape into an imaginary world and do something for me. Now, our capacity to curl up with a good book is gonna change for each of us. We have wildly different lives and circumstances, and sometimes things like today's episode are going to rub you up the wrong way because it just doesn't feel like the right time.
And I'm not going to pretend that it is. We cannot create time, and some periods are just really stressful. But I would also say sometimes you most need to do things for yourself when you feel least able to. And as always, it is perfectly okay if you are rolling your eyes or cussing me out as you're listening to this. Traditionally, winter was not made for getting shit done. If you're feeling exhausted at this time of the year, It is normal because we're getting closer to winter and we are supposed to have fallow times. But in this capitalist world we live in, that is rarely the case. So we have to get rebellious and claim it for ourselves when we can.
So here's to not going above and beyond this week. Here's to getting clear on what the actual priorities are. Here's to spotting false urgency. And here's to also getting uncomfortable and saying no to the shit that is not ours to do. I hope you have a great start to the week. I hope you are in the middle of a brilliant book, and I can't wait to be back with you tomorrow.
