187: Go back to the source
If you're feeling uninspired, it's so tempting to focus on the new that we completely overlook the things we know work. That's what we're diving into in today's episode of The Daily Pep!
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Thursday to you. If you're in the need of some inspiration, if you need a bit of motivation, or if you just can't seem to get yourself going this week, then you're listening to the right podcast. Now this week, we've talked a lot about just motivation, keeping yourself going, and enthusiasm. And I think it's fair to say that one of the things so many of us start with when we don't feel motivated or we just don't have much enthusiasm is we look for new things. And I think there can be so much value in the new stuff. Finding new books that you fall in love with, finding music that just makes their hairs on the back of your neck stand up, finding films that remind you why you're alive and why you do what you do. But I think that sometimes in search of the new, we can really overlook things that give us that already that maybe we've even forgotten about. I know for me, there are certain books, certain poets, certain films that I watch Whenever I need to feel inspired and every single time I watch them or read them or listen to them, I'm always surprised by just how much difference they make and also how much time has passed since I last turned to them.
So if you're feeling low on the motivation front, if you're forgetting why you do what you do, or if you need a bit of a boost, turn to those things that inspire you. It doesn't matter if you can't put your finger on exactly why they speak to you, But if they make you feel something and they make you feel alive or creative or they reinstall your faith in humanity a bit, really go back to them. They speak to you for a reason, and they might just be what you need to be focusing on right now. So here's to going back to the things we love. Here's to feeling alive, and here's to knowing that your motivation will return. Have a good one. I can't wait to see you back here tomorrow morning.
