Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers and a very happy Thursday to you. So this week we have been diving into getting going, getting started, finding motivation, and doing our work. And today, I wanna pop in with a reminder that we all need and something that I just don't think we could ever hear enough of, and that is to lean into owning your process. When it comes to getting shit done, you have ways that work for you. You might be somebody that really thrives on a deadline and breaking it down into small tasks, or you might be a bit more last minute.com, which is definitely me. When it comes to getting things done, there are a 1000000 different ways you could do it, and there are also a 1000000 different videos recommending different methods and how things should be done. And I know from experience how easy it is to dive into that rabbit hole. It's And the most important thing is it works for you.
That is all that matters. It doesn't have to make sense for anybody else. It doesn't matter if nobody could follow along with your system if they tried. And frankly, most of the time, it doesn't matter whether people like your system or not. It's about getting to know yourself and knowing how you work. For example, for years, I beat myself up for not being a person that could plan things out in advance and do things in stages so that I could pace myself. It could be less stressful and it didn't come down to the wire. But what I've realized over the last couple of years is that I am somebody who wings it at the last minute.
When I start to prepare too far in advance, I overthink, and I definitely don't do my best work. My perfectionist nature really comes out louder than ever and I get so hung up on the minute details. So for me, I've come to the point where I just have to trust that I will put it out of the bag and remember that when I do it that way, that is often when I do my best work. So today, I wanna invite you to just think about how you do your best work. What is a common thread that comes up for you? And when you're trying to get things done, are you trying to go against what works for you? And make yourself do it in a way that you think you should be doing it. So have a think on that 1 today. There is no right or no wrong answer. Don't aspire to be like anybody else.
Just do it your way Because you have got yourself this far, you've done many, many things, and there will be patterns and ways of working that have worked better than others, and it's time to start exploring that. So fuck what the productivity gurus have to say, fuck really complicated systems if they don't work for you, and own your process. There is nothing wrong with your process like there is nothing wrong with you. So that is all for today. I can't wait to be back with you tomorrow. Have a glorious Thursday. And I will see you tomorrow to wrap up this week.
