1549: You don't have to optimise every minute of the day

If you struggle with feeling lazy, I’ve got a bit of a challenge for you this weekend!

Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Friday to you. So one of the things many of us have in common around here is this belief that we are lazy, and honestly, it could not be further from the truth. But because so many of us have this belief that we are lazy, what we can end up doing is trying to maximize every second of every day and trying to fill and optimize any bonus moments we get. Let's face it, if we look around us, there is always shit to do, and there is generally never anybody telling you that it's okay, you can pause for a minute,, and you can actually enjoy a bonus couple of minutes if something gets cancelled, if plans unexpectedly change, or if you find a spare half hour here or there. So my task for you this weekend is to look for the bonus moments, not as time to get more shit done or to tick more things off the list, but as time to do something you might not have done for yourself otherwise, or just intentionally decide to waste them. Often we feel like we are being haunted and chased by a grandfather clock, and sometimes that is the case. And sometimes what we can do to change our relationship with time and reclaim it and get a bit rebellious is to actually spend any bonus time that we have doing something that we actually want to do. Now, I'm not presuming for one second that any of us have heaps and heaps of bonus time or that we have simple lives.

I know that we have responsibilities and we have shit to do, but I also know that the efficiency of the shit we get done massively reduces when we are always on the go and trying to fill every single minute. So here's to going on a bit of a search for some bonus time. Here's to maybe being a bit uncomfortable by not spending it by getting even more shit done, and here's to remembering that you can do something to save yourself time and actually enjoy the time that you have saved. So that's a wrap for this week here on the Daily Pep. I can't wait to be back with you on Sunday in your inbox if you are part of my Letters of Rebellion community, and you can join that by going to the link in the show notes. Or back here bright and early on Monday morning as usual. Have a good one, and remember that everything changes when you believe you matter.
