Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. Now this daily pet is especially for you if you are trying something brand new or if you're going back to doing something and it's been a little while. So something you might not know about me is that I do not know how to drive. I got to test standard about 8 years ago For many different reasons, just didn't end up going back to it, but being able to drive is a pretty huge one for me. And with our dream of wanting to convert a van, I hear it's pretty fucking important. So this past weekend, I got behind the wheel. And let's just say I was a little bit rusty. I was a lot more nervous than I thought I would be, And, also, I'd forgotten a whole lot more than I thought I had, and I just didn't do as well as I thought I might.
And the reason that I'm sharing this with you for today's daily pep is because I know for so many of us, There are maybe creative pursuits that we haven't been back to in a while. And when we go back to them, we feel really scary, And we might not be as good as we used to be or we might not be able to make as much progress as fast. And I just wanna remind you and me, That is okay, and it is also to be expected. When it comes to trying anything new or going back to something you did quite a while ago, You're always gonna have preconceived ideas of how it's gonna go, and chances are the reality isn't gonna match up to that. But that doesn't mean that you're somehow behind or that you should give up. Maybe it's a sign that you're going back to being a beginner again. And if it's something you haven't tried before, a lot of the times when it comes to starting a new thing, there are so many things that we Didn't know that we needed to know, so, of course, we couldn't predict what it was gonna be like. And, of course, there are gonna be things that we just don't have a clue about.
So whether you're trying something new or whether, like me, you're going back to something that you actually got Pretty good at a little while ago, but it is feeling really rusty. Just give yourself a shitload of grace. It may not be what you expect it to be. You might not feel like you're making progress very fast or you feel like you're further behind than you should be. But maybe you're exactly where you need to be right now, and all the life experience you've got behind you It's gonna make it even more special. And if it's going back to something you used to do a while ago, maybe now it's time to get curious, To do it with more joy and to have an even greater appreciation of the thing. But also, quick caveat before we wrap up, If you are hating the thing and you thought you would love the thing, maybe now is not the time, or maybe you've moved on, And that's okay too. You don't just have to persevere in order to continue the linear narrative of who you once were Because we are all changing all the time, and that's part of being human.
So approach today with a shitload of compassion And enthusiasm if you can. Have a good one, and I can't wait to see you back here bright and nearly as always tomorrow morning. See you then and remember that everything changes when you believe you matter.Good morning, daily peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you.
