Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Thursday to you. So behind the scenes, I've been busy creating the Rebel Countdown, which is my digital advent calendar designed to help you actually enjoy some of the season Deal with some of the festive fuckery and have something to look forward to in December. And while I've been creating it, I've been thinking a lot about anticipation because for me, and I know for a lot of us, anticipation is sometimes better than the actual thing we're waiting for. There's something about having something to look forward to, there's the joy of getting lost down all the rabbit holes and all the imagining which our creative brains absolutely love And it can be such a joy in and of itself. So in the spirit of really valuing anticipation, for today's daily pep, I want to remind you of 2 things. Number one, I want to give you full permission to really look forward to that thing that you're looking forward to. Give yourself permission to daydream, to go down the rabbit holes, and really enjoy it because it is such a key part of the experience. And don't deprive yourself of that in the name of toxic productivity or what other people would think.

And number 2, if you haven't got something to look forward to, just put something in the calendar. Especially as the days are longer and darker, life can feel a bit hard, and it can be hard to find the light in the darkness, so create some yourself. Have a think about something that you'd love to do. Remember, it doesn't have to involve money, it doesn't have to be super fancy or expensive, just plan something that you know you will really look forward to. And like I was saying, enjoy the looking forward to it. And if I was to add a bonus thing to it, it would be, be unapologetic about your enthusiasm. Somewhere along the line, we got taught that It's really uncool to be really keen about something or to really look forward to something and just fuck that shit. Enjoy looking forward to it, bask in it, and know that so much of the time, whether it's something we're working on, whether it's a creative project, whether it's a trip we've booked or something we're doing with friends or by ourselves, the planning and looking forward to it is a key part of the process and a key part of our joy.

And to finish the episode, I just want to do a shameless plug of my digital advent calendar because door 1 opens tomorrow. I am so excited. It is so fun because it is me. It's turned out pretty extra. It's pretty fucking epic, and it is something really fun to look forward to in the lead-up to Christmas. We get started tomorrow, so if you've been meaning to join and get the whole experience Now is the time to do that, and you can both join and find out more by going to therebelrousers.com/rebelchristmas. And it's also buy one gift one, so you can find out more by going to the link in the show notes. Have a good one.

If you don't have something planned to look forward to, put something in the diary, and I'll see you tomorrow.
