Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers. And a very happy Tuesday to you. So I don't know about you, but one thing I'm really good at is having an existential crisis. I can have a really good idea that I love one day, and the next day I can be absolutely tearing it to shreds. And rather than think about the different stuff I've got going on in my life and how that might be influencing that, I just buy into that thought hook, line, and then sinker. The fact that I might not have slept very well and I don't really have energy for the idea doesn't come into it. The fact that there's something going on in my personal life and maybe I'm a bit frustrated, that doesn't come into it either. I just assume that the idea is shit, and I just go by whatever I'm feeling that day.

Now I'm a huge fan of compassionate productivity and being led by what feels good to us. But I think we also need to be a little bit discerning of how we feel about something scary, a project we're doing, a decision we're making on a day to day basis. Because as humans, we are fabulously inconsistent beings. Some days things feel amazing, some days they feel utter shite and it might not actually be to do with the situation itself. That might not have changed, but different external factors might have. What I'm trying to say here is that just because you don't feel good about an idea or a project one day, doesn't mean that the project is just bullshit. Because you haven't got the energy to do something another day doesn't mean that you're not gonna do it. Give yourself grace for being the fabulous, imperfect, messy human that you are and that we all are.

The same way some people say don't go to bed in an argument. Don't believe your inner critic when you're tired because it is speaking more bullshit than normal and it also pokes even harder at the most tender spots because it spots an opportunity. So if you're making any big decisions, see what you feel like over the course of a week and take into account the other context of your life. See what patterns come up and remember that some shit days really are just a blip and treat them accordingly. So that is my messy pep talk for you today. Have a good Tuesday. I can't wait to see you tomorrow. And remember, my darlings, that everything changes when you believe you matter.
