1179: You don't have to earn fun time

We’re wrapping up this week with a loving (and fun) challenge!

Episode transcript:

On a Friday, it's all too easy to think about what we need to get done and to try and wrap things up with a neat bow. But we know that it's rarely possible and sometimes we just have to say fuck it. Fuck it, you did your best. You got done what you got done and you get to have some fun. So my challenge for you today is this. See if you can find a way to make your Fridays more fun. This could be about adding a bit of a Friday fun tradition. This could be about expecting yourself to get less done on a Friday, or it could be making sure that every Friday, you plan something fun to look forward to on the weekend knowing that that doesn't have to be a huge thing.

It doesn't have to be an expensive thing, and that joy can often be found in the simplest things. Around here, we are really into personal development, into growing, into being the best that we can be, and into getting all the things done. But I think sometimes we forget, and I'm saying this absolutely from personal experience and as me right now, we forget that we also get to enjoy things. We get to do things for the fun of it. And not every moment has to be productive. And not every second of the day has to be a learning moment. So this Friday, I invite you to say fuck it. You don't have to be everything to everybody.

You don't have to do everything. And you are allowed to have days where you are not at your peak. You are a human being. You are definitely not a machine. And it's time to start treating ourselves a bit more human too. So see how you can add a bit more fun into today. See how you can let go and hold things a little bit more lightly, and see what you can check-in the fuck it bucket. You get to have fun and you get to enjoy things without having to earn them.

So that is my challenge for you today. It might be hard. I find it hard too and that's okay. Let's see how we can add the fun. Let's see how we can say fuck it, and happy Friday. I look forward to being back with you in your ears on Monday or in your inbox on Sunday if you're part of my letters of rebellion community. And if you wanna find out more about what that is and join the fun over there, you can do that by going over to therebelrousers.com/letters. Have a good one and I'll see you soon.
