1237: A bossy pep talk to end the year
Bossy Meg is back! Today’s episode is dedicated to our f*cking to-do-lists.
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers. And a very happy Wednesday to you. So I generally like to keep the Daily Peppers not that topical and not that aligned with the seasons because I want them to be here for you to dive into as a library of inspiration whenever you need it at whatever time of the year. But this December, I know for me, I know for so many people that I know, and all of my fabulous coaching clients, it is a struggle to get to the end of the year. We are out of fucks. We are exhausted, and we need a bit of help getting to the finishing line. And that's where boss emig comes in. So listen up.
You know all of those things that you've got on a list that you wanna do by the end of the year? The things that you've beaten yourself up about, and the things that you don't necessarily have the energy to do. Can we just take a load of them off the list, please? It tends to be at the end of the year that we put so much on our plate. And if we're really honest with ourselves, we know it's not all gonna get done despite our best intentions. So for the things we can, let's just call it quits. We are hard on ourselves enough already without dragging around with us all of these shoulds that we just aren't gonna do. How can we make peace with the fact that we are gonna end this year, every single one of us, with stuff left on our to do list, and that's okay. And to get a bit morbid on you for a second, but I promise I'll bring us back up, we are also all probably gonna die with things on our to do list, and I think we just have to make peace with that. I put a seemingly insurmountable amount of stuff on my plate to get done for the rest of the year.
And yesterday, I just said fuck it. I'm gonna do the things I absolutely have to do, but no more. Because what's realistically gonna happen is I wouldn't be able to do them all anyway, then I beat myself up. And when it gets down to actually enjoying some time off, I'm gonna have knackered myself out. So I've just admitted defeat. I'm gonna do the things that I have to do, and I'm gonna save the energy of pretending that I'm gonna do all this other stuff and beating myself up when I don't do it, and use the energy on better stuff instead. So I invite you to join me in saying hearty fuck it to the things that you think you should do that you don't have to do. And if you do wanna say a general fuck off and flip the bird to 2024, and you've been meaning to book on to my fuck 2024 workshop, now is the time to do so as it is happening today, and I can't fucking wait.
You can grab your ticket by going to the show notes or by going to the rebel rousers.comforward/fuckoff2024. And however your Wednesday looks for you, whether we're hanging out later or not, from one human to another, we are enough, we do enough, we can't do it all, and that's okay. See you tonight or see you tomorrow.
