Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. So we started this week on the Daily Pep, taking inspiration from a sticker I've got on my laptop that says, bloom where you are planted. And we talked about how that can be a great reframe, and how it can be a way of really taking back power, and a way to access joy if you wish circumstances were different. And today, I wanna give you a different kind of permission slip, and it is that you don't have to bloom where you're planted. It is okay to get a massive shovel and plant yourself somewhere else. It doesn't have to be in a drastically different place. It could be in a completely different garden, or it could be a couple of degrees to the right where you get sunlight. It is not selfish to remove yourself from a situation where you do not and cannot thrive. And that fabulous Emily McDowell quote comes to mind.

The idea of, is it a personal failure or is it an impossible setup? And I think that is such a helpful one to go back to. You are allowed to have your fuck it moments. And I know around here we tend to be planners, so I just wanna remind you that your fuck it moments include coming up with a strategic plan and figuring out how you're gonna say fuck it rather than limiting it to that Hollywood kind of fuck everything, storm out moment. We're all different. We all have different circumstances and conditions that we need in order to bloom and to thrive. And maybe for you, you are in an impossible setup, and it is not a personal failure. Because where you are simply doesn't allow you to thrive or bloom. This can translate from anything from a job you're in, a friendship that you have, or a creative project that you're starting.

We have this great narrative in this society that we live in that quitting or leaving things is a sign of weakness, but I actually think it can be a huge sign of strength. A lot of us let the phrase life is too short roll off our tongues, and we forget just how many experiments we can do. There are so many different ways that we can build a life we love. And often choosing yourself is the most courageous thing you can do, even if it doesn't feel a lot like courage at the time. So if you are sick of trying to bloom where you are planted, see how you can change things up. It doesn't need to be drastic. Some of the best things we do are the smallest changes. And if this feels all a bit too intimidating, just use it as a bit of a thought experiment.

If you had a shovel and you could dig it where you are and plant yourself somewhere else, where are the places you could go? Use it as a tool for inspiration, for some clarity, and just see what comes up. You deserve a life where you thrive, where you bloom, and where you can meet the conditions that you need, even if they don't make sense to other people. So here's to exploring what blooming means to you, here's to exploring where you want to be planted, and here's to choosing yourself. I'll see you tomorrow.
