Episode transcript:

Good morning Daily Peppers and a very happy Monday to you. I am so glad and relieved to be back with you with brand new episodes this week after having a horrific ear infection last week. If you'd have put headphones on me last week and asked me to record, I would have screamed. So I'm going into this week with so much gratitude that I no longer feel like I want to saw my ear off and a helpful reframe when it comes to beating ourselves up. Now around here we should all get first class honours for berating ourselves. And we are pretty good at taking credit for shitty things that just aren't our fault. Take my ear infection. I was feeling pretty shit that I couldn't sit down and record new episodes.

That was until I realized it wasn't really an option. So my question for you to kick start this week is where are you beating yourself up for something that A isn't your fault, but B going ahead with it just simply isn't an option. My example directly relates to physical health, but I also want to remind us about that brilliant quote about mental health as well, which is that if it costs you your mental health, then it simply isn't an option. I know that hearing this doesn't automatically stop us from beating ourselves up, but it is a different perspective to add into the mix. Maybe it can squeeze into a tiny gap in your brain which is covered in shadows that your dream shitter can't see, and maybe you can meet it with curiosity rather than judgment. So here's to giving ourselves a fuckload of grace for all the things that we can't do this week. Here's to beating ourselves up even 20% less. And here's to knowing that choosing ourselves is not selfish and it is instead very, very necessary and also not an option.

I hope you find some unexpected joy this Monday. I look forward to being back with you tomorrow. And remember, as always, that everything changes when you believe you matter.
