1527: Let's turn the paper upside down
Today we're getting our metaphorical scissors out and looking at things from different perspectives, inspired by my love of collage!
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Wednesday to you and a very happy hump day to you. We are over halfway through the week. So one of my own creative outlets is collage. There is something about cutting up bright colors and shapes and rearranging them on a page, that just makes me really happy. The bit that isn't necessarily my favorite is the gluing down stage, because suddenly it feels like ridiculously the stakes are high and I've got to make the right decision. And one of the things I often find can be really helpful is literally turning the page around and seeing where there are gaps, seeing what looks better where, and just seeing things from a different angle. And that is my invitation and encouragement for you today with whatever is kind of going around in your head, whatever problem you're trying to solve, or anything you've been noodling on where it feels like you're going around in circles or hitting a brick wall. Get curious about how you could do the kind of metaphorical turning the page around.
How could you come at it from a completely different angle? Now, that might look like asking somebody that you would never usually ask their opinion on, not necessarily because you're going to take their advice, but because it may solidify your way of thinking, or it might push you forward a little bit. It might look like reverse engineering the problem. It might look like taking some things away and adding them back in. Basically, what can you do to look at things a bit differently? If the situation was a collage, what are the main components, and how can you reorganize them? Now, this isn't about coming up with the perfect solution—that is very rarely a thing—but rather it's about inviting different interpretations to the table, even if all they do is validate what you were already thinking and show you that you were going in the right direction. So get your metaphorical scissors out, turn the page, and look for what you haven't been seeing, or try and hunt for a new perspective. This is where your curiosity and your creativity and problem-solving skills can really come in handy, so let's put them to good use. And if you haven't already found out your rebel archetype, That may also be a big part of the puzzle that could really help, and you can go find out yours by going to therebelrousers.com/quiz. It's a really quick, fun one, and it's also a great way of understanding yourself from a different lens.
Have a fabulous Wednesday. I'll see you tomorrow, and remember, as always, that everything changes when you believe you matter.
