Episode transcript:

Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Thursday to you. Just popping in before we get started to give you a super, super fast reminder that my Halfway Huddle workshop is happening this evening. So if you want to find out more or you've been meaning to book, now is the time. You can find out more by going to therebelrousers.com/halfwayhuddle and the link is in the show notes and it might just be two hours that changes the entire rest of your year. Now onto today's show.

Now, many of us know fear and self doubt on very intimate terms. We are used to it popping up at the start of the project, in the middle of a project, at the end of a project, and pretty much any fucking time it likes.

And many of us are also good girls. We have been brought up to dot the I's, cross the T's, to tick things off the list and do the right thing and be very diligent and conscientious. And let me tell you this, our dream shitter absolutely exploits the fuck out of that because it is really, really handy. For example, when we're about to start a new project, we might feel that that bit more research would actually just be a really sensible thing to do. When we're in the middle of something, we think that it might be a conscientious thing to look at all the different ways other people have done it, and then we end up completely overwhelmed and completely comparing ourselves. And if we're even just thinking about doing something, it can feel really reasonable to convince ourselves that we just need to wait for the right moment and this moment isn't it. Now don't get me wrong, there are definitely seasons in our lives where it is not the moment to start. But nine times out of 10 it is fear talking.

And the thing is with the research and being conscientious is that we meet very little resistance when it comes to that because our dream shitter is on board. While we think we're being conscientious, our dream shitter is only too happy that we're not doing the scary thing and will let us live in that moment forever. And then our dream chitter can be even happier when we start trying to figure out why we do that in the first place. Because it is yet another thing that isn't you doing the thing. All of this is to remind us all that our dream shitters are really fucking sneaky bastards. And also a reminder that you don't always need to know all the answers and sometimes you can't know all the answers, and actually the most conscientious and sensible thing to do is to start. And if we're feeling particularly rebellious, saying fuck it can also sometimes help. So keep this in mind as you go about your day.

If your dreamshitter has been particularly loud lately, my Halfway Huddle workshop, which is happening later today, will be really, really helpful and I would love to see you there. You can find out more by going to therebelrousers.com/halfwayhuddle and I hope you have a fabulous rest of your day. Take care.
