1645: What can you put into maintenance mode?

It's that time of the year where we're supposed to be taking it easier, but that can be so hard with busy brains like ours. So today I've got a prompt to help us!

Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. So at the time of recording this, it is summertime. So whether you're listening to this in the summer or any other time of the year and you just need a bit of a break, this one is Now, our heads can tend to be a bit all or nothing. We're either doing something and seriously doing it, or we're not doing it at all. And today I want to remind you that maintenance mode exists. And maintenance mode is essentially just doing the bare minimum that you need to do to keep something ticking over. And to use a car metaphor, basically maintenance mode is idling. You're not putting any pressure on the pedal, you're not really moving anywhere, but also you're not stopping and turning it off either.

It's just kind of running in the background. So today, as you listen to this, I want you to think about what areas of your life, what projects big or small, and what things can just be put on maintenance mode or put on the back burner and picked up at another time. All too often we think everything is urgent and important right now, and not all of it is. And for many of us, we just simply can't rest unless we've done it all. But the truth is that you just can't do it all, not at the same time anyway. And it's also simply not sustainable to be go, go, go all the time. So today, have a look at what's on your plate and what is actually really important right now. What can you put into maintenance mode? And is anything been there for a long time, it hasn't been done, there are no real consequences, and you can kind of just say fuck it and just knock it off the list completely? Let's be a bit kinder to ourselves.

Let's give ourselves a bit of a break. And let's give ourselves a massive reminder that our self-worth is never ever defined by what we do. And we are human beings, not human doings. Happy Monday. I hope you have a fabulous week, and I'll see you tomorrow.
