1644: A very specific pep talk

We're rounding off this week with a very specific pep talk around an area of building a life you love that gets too little attention!

Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Friday to you. So I have a very specific pep talk for you to round off this week, and it is to lovingly and fiercely protect your enthusiasm. As creatives and multi-passionates, we tend to have a lot of enthusiasm and passion for things, and we can't help but want to share things. But sometimes it's in the very act of sharing that we can feel really shot down. If we're also empaths, which a lot of us are, if somebody doesn't match our enthusiasm level, that can feel like a real blow. And sometimes people can be very well-intentioned and still be dream-shitters, projecting their own fears onto us, and our curiosity and our excitement can be met with concern, and sometimes people simply don't get it, and it makes us feel like we're too much, or it can just leave us feeling a bit disheartened. So my pep talk for you today is to be really intentional about who you share your ideas with, and who you share your good news with first. And a good rule of thumb can be to acknowledge and celebrate and just spend time with and percolate on the idea or the win or the news with yourself and give yourself that moment, because that way it doesn't sting quite as much if you don't get the feedback or reaction you were hoping to from somebody else.

And your excitement is precious, and you get to tend to it and enjoy it for a bit. Know that other people's reactions are usually way more or just completely about them than it is than you. Know that it's okay if you do feel sad because the people in your life that you'd love to celebrate and share with don't necessarily match your energy or share in your excitement. And really keep hold of those who do and really enjoy their energy. I hope you have a weekend as fabulous as you are. I hope you stay cool, and if you've been meaning to but you haven't joined my fabulous email community, now is a great time to do it as I'm really sharing behind the scenes in real time decisions and wobbles of my next chapter and all the things that are really helping me along the way. And you can get in on that by going to therebelrousers.com/letters. Take care and remember that everything changes when you believe you matter.
