Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Thursday to you. Today, we're diving into dealing with hard times, I'm dealing with the overwhelm, and what we can take forward from it. So far on the daily pet this week, We've talked about doing things with more ease and how this season new in right now is temporary, and it won't last forever. Today, I wanna offer up something that can be really helpful both when you're going through a hard time and also figuring out the things that you need for you and the things that you can do to help yourself during hard times. So when we're in the middle of going through something, often the last thing we want to do is focus on the thing and dwell on it. And usually when we're through something, We wanna focus on things not being quite so shit, and we are all too happy to see the back of it. But there is so much wisdom that you can gain from keeping notes during hard times. It doesn't have to be super organized in can be as simple as having an ongoing note on your phone where you just jot down things that you notice.
The notes could be things that you did the turned your day around a bit, it could be lessons you're learning in what you're going through and things that you wanna remember for future hard things or things that might be helpful for other people. It can be permission slips, and it can also be reminders to future you that you know you'll forget if you don't write them down right now. It might not feel that important in the moment, but trust me, it will be a gift a future you because you are building up a resilience toolkit of things that you can come back to that you know work for you. When things go hard, when things get chaotic, when things feel overwhelming and chances are when you go back to that thing, you'll be reading it when you most need it, and you will really appreciate the wisdom from past due. We tend to, for obvious reasons, not really like to go back and face shitty things. But sometimes there are true gems in this shit, and sometimes it's worth sifting through a little bit because you're gonna find things that are gonna be so helpful for the future. So reflect on your hard times as well as your good times. Know that you have much more wisdom than you know.
And if things are looking pretty good right now, write a pep talk for future you, because I think she's gonna really appreciate it. I'll see you back here tomorrow, and remember that everything changes when you believe you matter.
