If you've ever felt the pressure to be the best version of you, this one's for you.
ABOUT THE DAILY PEP! PODCAST
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Thursday to you. Now this week on the Daily pep, we've kind of been diving into courage and how it doesn't always feel like courage. And I think one of the reasons we think a lot about changes is because around here a lot of us are doing things to improve ourselves and work on ourselves. And while we might not think of it in these terms, I don't necessarily it's this whole idea of being the best version of yourself. Now, I don't know about you, but when I think of this, I tend to think of green smoothies, Instagram flat lays, and beautiful journals come to mind. And I think we've kind of all been sold what that best version of ourself looks like. And it is one that definitely plays into a lot of conventions and sometimes it can just feel a world away from where we are now. We're going to dive more into that part of it tomorrow, but for today, I just want to say there's nothing wrong with trying to improve yourself.
Obviously, that is why we are all here. But the changes that you seek to make and this version of yourself that you're aspiring to be, make sure that it makes sense to you. And make sure you're creating your own definitions rather than looking outside of yourself, seeing what makes other people happy or seeing what seems to be the right thing or the thing you should do and following that instead. If you've been around here a while, you'll know that I'm all about owning your unique brilliance and how you have stories, experiences, skills, memories, strengths and quirks that make you you and you have a combination of all of those things that nobody else has. So whatever this best version of yourself is, is going to be as unique as you are and just try not to fall into the trap, which is so much easier said than done than buying into what society says we should be aspiring for, wanting to be or aiming for. Your best version of yourself only has to make sense to you. It doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense to other people and you get to create that definition. You get to change that definition as you go.
And most importantly, when you are aiming to improve yourself or you're improving parts of your life, make sure that you don't lose yourself along the way and make sure it feels true to you. I know authenticity is a bit of a buzzword, but it is one of our closest held values around here and chances are you know what feels like you and what doesn't. So stay true to you keep exploring your unique brilliance. It's okay if you don't know what that looks like right now. And remember that you are a million percent not starting from zero, and we're going to dive more into that tomorrow. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your Thursday and I'm looking forward to being back with you tomorrow to round off this week and start the weekend with you. See you soon.
