1172: A Wednesday invitation

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Wednesday to you. You are doing so much better than you think you are. And if that's exactly what you needed to hear today, stop the podcast off your puck and have a good one. So. So I've been doing a lot more walking lately, and with walking comes also a lot more thinking. And I was thinking yesterday how when it comes to trying new things and getting curious and experimenting, one of the things that can trip us up is this idea that if we do something different, it has to be better. But what if we just aimed for different rather than trying to constantly improve things or feeling like it's either going to go right or it's going to go wrong? What if we tried different things just to see how they landed? Because different can just be different. It doesn't have to be some kind of moral success or moral failure.
And I don't know about you, but I find it all too easy to get lost in the humdrum of life. It's easy for days to feel sameish, and it's easy to feel that we're on a hamster wheel. And sometimes we just need to try something new. So my challenge for you today as you go about your daily life, is to do one little thing differently. Try not to go at it from the perspective of trying to find a really good alternative, but just try something in a different or a novel way. It doesn't have to become a replacement. You don't ever have to do it again. Just shake things up a bit.
There's all kinds of research that shows that we have thousands of thoughts every single day, and a lot of them are the same things. So see if you can challenge that today. Remember, you don't have to do something wild. You don't have to do something outside of your comfort zone. Just look for the opportunity. And I think you might be surprised. I love hearing from you.
