1320: Stealing breadcrumbs and creating a life you love
If you need a dash of hope or a dollop of inspiration this morning, I've got just the thing for you!
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. So nearly ten years ago, me and mister Meg did a huge road trip across The United States. Now we are huge foodies, and one of the best things we ate was really fresh tacos at a place in the Grand Central Market in LA. It's funny how you bring things into your own life from so many different experiences. And for us, it's the fact that whenever we're doing burritos or tacos, we now always serve it with raw onion, lime juice, and coriander or cilantro to our American friends. And I'm sharing this today because last night, we had burritos, and I also enjoyed the morning reading some Austin Kleon. And I've also been thinking a lot lately about how we create our lives. Now Austin Kleon is one of my favorite writers and illustrators, and I had him as a guest here on the daily pep for episode 520.
And he's got this great phrase, steal like an artist. And I think for so many of us, we get caught up so much on that title of artist that we miss out so much of the richness that that phrase has to give us. Because to me, creating a life you love is one of the most creative things we can do. And in many senses, we are all artists. Like that quote from MC Richards, all the arts we practice are apprenticeship. The big art is our life. So I'm sharing this today as a reminder as you go about your day to day and as you think about different experiences you've had, to really steal like an artist when it comes to building a life you love, it's not necessarily about the big things. It is about all the bread crumbs and the sprinklings and all the things that you weave into your life from many days well lived.
And that can also be a fun activity in and of itself, looking at your day to day life and piecing together why you do things the way you do, in what ways you've already stolen like an artist, and how many fond memories have shaped your life. So this is a bit of hope and a bit of inspiration for your Monday morning. I hope it sparked something. I hope you find some unexpected joy, And I hope you find something to steal. Have a good one and I'll see you tomorrow.
