Episode transcript:

Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. For today's episode, I want to take the pressure off a bit and I want you to have a think about your to do list and something that's been on there a little while that you can just let go of. So often we carry around with us so much extra baggage in the form of things that we meant to do that we never got round to, that perhaps aren't even that relevant anymore, or the time has simply passed. It almost serves purely now as a reminder of the fact that sometimes we don't do the things that we say we're gonna do. Sometimes we drop the balls or the plates for on the Floor and our dream shitter loves that stuff whenever we're doing anything vaguely scary. But here's the thing. Maybe you're the only one that is bothered by the fact that the thing didn't get done. Maybe it wasn't even that important in the first place.

Or maybe you just need to make peace with the fact that it didn't get done and consider the fact that you were prioritising or life was really busy in that moment you simply forgot about it and see if you can find some self forgiveness. Many of us have this image that everybody else has got their shit figured out except us and that nobody else forgets important things. And everybody else has this to do list where they prioritize all the right things and they never drop a ball. But that my love, is bullshit. We go around thinking the real hindrance is the stuff that we didn't get done. But maybe the real hindrance is our attachment to that stuff in terms of the stories we create about ourselves because we didn't do the thing. Of course there are times where we need to address it and maybe acknowledgement or an apology is due, but other times it is about letting shit go. And I know I make that sound simple.

It isn't. But some ways that you could perhaps start is taking the task off your list, or deleting it off your project management software, or taking the note off the fridge. The good thing about how busy life is is that if you don't have it somewhere prominent, you probably will forget about it. And that's kind of the point of this. And if upon reflection it's something you really can't let go of, how can you half ass it? How can you do it with the minimum time and energy expenditure as possible? And how can we get it off your plate and out of your head? We already have enough stuff to lug around with us without the ghosts of to do's that are no longer relevant or we've missed a deadline. Give yourself the grace that you would give a good friend. Know that self forgiveness is a muscle and it takes time to build. And if it feels uncomfortable, that's okay.

And here's to being kinder to yourself than you dare to be. I look forward to seeing you back here again tomorrow. And in the meantime, remember that everything changes when you believe you matter.
