Today's episode is all about embracing our quirks and our needs, and letting go of other people's judgements.

Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. So, as I shared in yesterday's episode, we are back to long term travel. And as of yesterday, we have checked into our Airbnb in a little city south of Frankfurt, Germany for just over two months. And it just feels really good to settle somewhere for a little while. Last time we did this, we spent a month in each place, and while I loved it, I had serious FOMO wherever we went, because I felt like I had to make the most of every minute and every day and cram in as much as I could into that month. So, as I was unpacking my suitcase, I. I came across some of my trusty favourites. And those are my sets of micro fairy lights I always take with us, despite having very little luggage that we can fit in our car.

And for me, it's my piece of home. Fairy lights make everything feel a lot more magical and I always find somewhere to put them. I am definitely not a main light kind of person, and many of the Airbnb we've stayed in have, shall I say, interesting lighting choices. And it's a way that I can feel comfortable and I can feel like me in a new space. And the reason I'm sharing this today is that I think we've all got different things that other people might see as added extras or even just something extra and ottoman that just really makes sense to us. And I think life just gets better when we can stop giving a shit about what other people might think about those things, or stop trying to rationalize them, or explain ourselves to ourselves. We've all got little quirks and little nuances and things that we need, whether that's with a capital N or a lowercase N that make us feel more comfortable and maybe make life a little bit more joyful. And I think that's a really good thing.

Now, I'm not saying it's easy to stop giving a shit what other people think, but the truth is, when it comes to these things that matter a lot to us, other people may think very, very little about them in the first place. So today, I'm encouraging both of us to be a lot more unapologetic about what lights us up and what we need. Sometimes I laugh at myself and think it's a bit ridiculous that I travel with three sets of fairy lights. But what I can tell you is, every single time I untangle them, I never regret bringing them. And also, untangling those fuckers can be a real stress reliever too. So, as you listen to this. Have a bit of a think about anything that you might not be allowing yourself to enjoy or allowing yourself to do. What are your non negotiables that make sense to nobody else, but that make you feel really comfortable and what would happen if you just accepted them rather than judging yourself? Here's to the power of knowing who we are, what we need, and giving it to ourselves and knowing that that isn't frivolous, but is actually pretty necessary for us to be comfortable and to keep showing up. Because the world certainly is a brighter place when you show up. Have a good one and I'll see you tomorrow.
