1410: A slightly different question for a Monday

So often Monday comes around before we even know it. So today's episode is an invitation to take a pause, check-in with yourself, and face the week ahead.

Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. So when it comes to Mondays, a lot of us start off by trying to figure out what we need to do. And today I want to make a slight tweak to that question in the hopes of helping make your week a bit more fulfilling. And so it aligns with the season of life you're in right now. So we're going to tweak that question to simply, what do you need this week? Now, before we get into how we do that, I want to acknowledge the elephant in the room. That is for so many of us. We can't just kind of say fuck it and throw all of our plans to the wind and just do what we need. We have obligations, we have commitments.

There are things that we have to do, and I really want to acknowledge them. But I do think that there's a way that we can meet ourselves in the middle and look at what's on our plate this week and look at what our needs are and find a way to make our week work a bit better for us. So often a Monday arrives a lot quicker than we'd like it to, and before we know it, we're just in it. And we haven't really given ourselves a second to just check in with ourselves and see how we are, what our capacity is like and how we're doing. So I invite you to have a bit of a check in with yourself right now if you're feeling exhausted and in need of a bit of recovery. Maybe it's about seeing what can be rescheduled in the calendar or how you can give 20% less effort this week. If your social battery is feeling absolutely drained and you need some alone time, look at where you can steal those moments for yourself. And if it feels like you've got so much to catch up on, pause before you start and figure out what is really important.

And acknowledge that it might take you a bit of time to catch up. And that is okay. We can only do so much in a day. And also, if our head's not been in it for a while, it does take time to get there, and that's just a human thing. So see how you can meet where you actually are this week before you jump into trying to do everything. Yes, there are things that you need to do this week, but you are also a human with needs. And there are so many little things that we can do so one doesn't bulldoze the other. Your needs are valid.

You don't have to justify them to anybody else. And if you've woken up today with less energy or less fucks than you wish you had, go 20% more gentler than you usually would and see what happens. Have a good one. And I can't wait to be back with you tomorrow. Take care.
