1411: Let's choose your word!
Today we’re playing with the idea of setting an anchor for the rest of the year!
Episode transcript:
Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. So I'm getting ready to kick off the final ever round of my hundred day group program, One More Band Club. And today I thought it'd be fun to share something we do during the kickoff call, which is just really good at helping find some clarity, figuring out what we need, and giving ourselves a bit of an anchor to come back to. And what we do is we Choose a word for the hundred days. I know for lots of us, we're familiar with choosing a word for the year, and I've also found it can just be really helpful for other seasons, projects and time containers. It's really powerful because it gets to the root of what you really want. It can be used as a bit of a filter to make decisions through, and it can also be a way of dividing our word of the year into stages or seasons. So at the time this episode goes live, we're at the start of September.
So I want you to think about the next hundred days, which takes us to a week or so before Christmas. And I want you to think about how you would like to feel by that time. Are there any things or any projects that you'd like to start or finish or carry on with that you would feel really grateful you showed up for? Is there something that you really want to focus on, but it just keeps slipping away amidst all the things we have to do during our daily lives? Or has a random word just popped into your head? I always say if you've got a random word, see if you can embrace the adventure and go for it, even if it doesn't make sense, because it can end up unexpected in a really good way. And it's a great way of connecting to our intuition. If on the flip side, you're trying to choose from a bunch of words, remember there's no perfect way to do this. You're not looking for just the right word. Pick the one that maybe gives you the most joy you're most intrigued about, or maybe feels like a bit of a weight off your shoulders. It is so easy to go into the later half of the year and feel completely swamped by all the things that we said we'd do.
But you get to make up the rules. January, you had the best intentions, but they didn't necessarily have the full picture. So give yourself grace and see if you can have fun with this one. It also doesn't just have to be a word. It could be a phrase, it could be a particular tarot card, it could be an animal. Go as wild as you like with this one and just see where it takes you. So here's to a fabulous next 100 days. If you're joining the final round of One Woman Band, I look forward to being with you every step of the way.
And whatever kind of day you've got ahead of you. Remember that everything changes when you believe you matter. I'll see you tomorrow.
