1421: The power of 20 percent

Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. So there's a question I've been asking during my workshops and during my groups lately that has become incredibly helpful, and I want to share it with you today. So when we talk about lowering our internal expectations and taking the pressure off ourselves, it can sometimes be helpful to think about getting a B rather than an A or doing a good enough job. But for most of us, that feels pretty vague and also slightly impossible. The same way as when we think of giving something 70% of our effort, not 100% of our effort, we can get way too caught up with thinking about all the details that we'll miss if we only do 70% of the job. And there's just a tiny shift that we can make. That and I'm getting meta here can make this whole being easier on ourselves get a bit easier. And it's all about focusing on 20% instead.

For example, how could you get 20% more comfortable than you are right now? How could you be 20% easier on yourself? And how could you save your last 20% for yourself? For some reason, that just seems to land so much better with me or the fabulous people I work with, and it's just an easier question to answer. We can then start looking at the tiny things that we can do. We're not necessarily looking at the entire picture and it just breaks it down a bit more. So whatever today and this week has in store for you, how can you be 20% easier on yourself? Think about what that would tangibly look like and dare yourself to go there. Like I've said many times on the Daily Pep, our 50% is most people's 200%, and we deserve to live lives that aren't totally depleting and where we get to save some of our best energy for ourselves. So have a think on this one, have a good one, and remember, as always, that everything changes when you believe you matter. I'll see you tomorrow.
