1440: What do you need to put on charge?

While we’re so busy just surviving, it can sometimes feel impossible to look a bit further ahead down the road at what we need. So today’s episode is a gentle nudge to pause, and plan ahead.

Episode transcript:

Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. So we all have things that we are really good at and some things that we're really not that good at. For example, I am really good at at remembering all the birthdays of people I went to primary school with, which was many moons away that I haven't even seen for at least 20 years. And I'm also really good at taking somebody's seed of an idea and turning it into an entire life plan and then figuring out where we get started. And some things I am not very good at include keeping houseplants alive. I know so many people in our fabulous community are green fingered. I am not one of them and I absolutely suck at remembering to charge things, getting excited to do things that involves the thing I forgot to keep charged, and then putting myself off the whole endeavor. Now today's daily prep is not about getting better at the things we suck at, but it is a gentle nudge to have a look at what you've got coming up and if there is anything that needs metaphorically charging.

For so many of us this year has been so far about surviving and occasionally thriving and we've been living in the moment and there are so many things to do and there's so many places we want to be and so many places that we have to be that we can arrive at everything a bit frazzled. So what can you do this week to give your future self a tiny head start when it comes to something that is coming up for you and just make it that bit easier? Sometimes it is really helpful to pause and get a bit of a lay of the land and have a bit of a peek of what the next couple of months looks like. Not an attempt to get everything done, but in the way that you can see what the next season might be demanding of you and figure out what might be helpful for you right now. And just to be clear, there is to be no beating ourselves up for the fact that we've been in survival mode. And also, if you feel like right now there's no way you can stop and catch your breath and look at what's coming up for you. Remember that often the time we most need to take a break is most often when we feel like the entire sky will fall in if we do. So grab any moments of calm or any type of break you can get and know that that is a priority. Here's to being multifaceted humans who are great at some things, not so great at other things, knowing that that is what makes life interesting.

And it is a human thing, not a personal flaw thing. And here's to figuring out what we need to put on charge. I'll see you tomorrow.
