Episode transcript:

Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Friday to you. It is the end of the week and I thought we would round off this week on the daily pep with a sassy one. So around here we tend to be pretty curious. We love journaling, we love all the kind of self improvement personal development stuff and I think it can do magical things for us. But I'm just popping in today to remind you that also life can just be really fucking complicated. And that is not through a lack of you trying. That is not through a lack of you trying to find a different perspective. Some things just suck and some problems are just really sticky and it's hard to find a resolution to it.

And I think one of the ways our dream shitter can win is by convincing ourselves that unless we have the solution and the perfect solution, then we are at fault and we just have to try a bit harder. But through the fact that you are even listening to this, you are already trying hard. I know for near enough every single person who listens to this, including myself, we struggle with this idea that we are somehow lazy. And we're not lazy. We do the work, we show up. Yes, we have off days, but everybody has off days. And if we could give ourselves even 10% of the grace that we so easily give to loved ones, I think it would make a huge difference. And I know that's not easy.

So if you are untangling something at the moment, if you're wrestling with something, if something feels hard, it is probably not for lack of trying. And it may be hard because it is hard. Objectively. Yes, there are many tools available, but I'm just going to put this out there. What if we use those tools to support ourselves and our own nervous systems rather than exclusively trying to use them to solve the exact situation which might be external to us. So that is some food for thought for you. For the weekend. It is Friday.

You have done so much better than you give yourself credit for. You are categorically, absolutely not lazy. And here's to treating yourself 10% kinder than usual this weekend. I can't wait to be back with you here on the Daily Prep on Monday or in your inbox on Sunday if you're part of my Letters of Rebellion community. And if you want to get in on that, you can go to thereebelrousers.com/letters or just click the handy link in the show Notes. Either way, I can't wait to see you soon. Thank you for being here. And remember that everything changes when you believe you.
