1642: Embrace the wobbles
Even though we hate it, frustration and impatience are often part of the process, and not a sign you're doing anything wrong. That's exactly what we're diving into on today's episode of The Daily Pep!
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Wednesday to you. It is midweek, so I wanted to pop in with a pep talk around being uncomfortable. So every week for the past 12 years, I send out an email to my fabulous email community on a Sunday called Letters of Rebellion, and in it I very much share my own behind-the-scenes journey and the vulnerable wobbly bits of building a life I love. And a couple of weeks ago I was sharing about how frustration and impatience are just part of the journey. I was talking about how as I get back from Bulgaria and we're closing a chapter on our long-term travel, all of the question marks are just really uncomfortable, and I shared the following, and I thought it might be helpful to share it with you today. So much of building a life you love is uncomfortable. There are so many questions, so many directions you could take. It can be a logistical shit show, and it can feel overwhelming because it is overwhelming.
So if you're uncomfortable, know that it's not because you're doing something wrong, and chances are it's because you are in the thick of it. Building a life you love takes a lot of honesty, a lot of heart-to-hearts with yourself, and a lot of sometimes hard questions, and a lot of percolating. And for those of us Type A multi-passionates who want the answers right now, it also takes a shitload of patience. But getting impatient and getting frustrated is one of the steps on the journey, and for me and many of my coaching clients, it's a helpful place, even if it's not a particularly joyful one. Because it's often when you're sick of waiting and figuring things out that something tends to happen, either by a bit of a fuck it moment, Awesome magical synchronicity. So, if you're listening to this right now and you can hard relate, hang in there, keep tolerating the discomfort, as frustrating as it can be, and know that you really are getting somewhere. The wobbles are often part of the process, even if we're taught in all the films that it is supposed to feel absolutely magical. I know for me, getting to know that bit unlocked so much because it suddenly felt like, okay, I'm not doing everything wrong.
So that was something I shared with my lovely email community a couple of weeks ago. I figured that you probably need to hear it today. And if you're not already part of my email community, come on over. It is a really fun place. Your invite is waiting for you over at therebelrousers.com/letters. And on Wednesday, I do something that is particularly fun called Wildcard Wednesday, and I send out Roughly about 5 things that I found that week, or I've been really enjoying lately, that have added to my life in some way, that have made me think, have made me laugh. And it's just a really fun, eclectic roundup of weird and wonderful shit that I know you'll love too. So if you wanna add some realness and some weirdness to your inbox, I really invite you to come and join us.
And if you too right now are wanting all of the answers and they're not coming, I know it is really fucking frustrating, but let's remember that the frustration and impatience is part of the journey, even if we wish it wasn't, and it's also a sign of progress. Have a good one, and I'll see you tomorrow.
