Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Wednesday to you. It is hump day. This week on the Daily Pep, we are diving into all things boat and sea related. You know I love an analogy, so here we go. So when it comes to everyday life, there is always so much shit to do. And there's always so much shit to do on a boat as well. Me and mister Meg were toying with getting a houseboat for a little while, and my goodness, just looking into it, while it does look really fun, we were told by quite a few boat owners, don't do it unless you're quite happy to tinker because there's always something to do. Now there are times that you literally have to get the whole boat out of the water and work on it that way, but most of the maintenance, you can probably do while it's floating.

And I think when it comes to personal development, we treat most things as projects that involve taking ourselves completely out of the water, and that's not necessarily realistic. When we think, for example, of doing a new morning routine, we tend to start thinking about overhauling the whole lot and just doing loads at once rather than just tinkering with what we've already got. And like I shared way back on the early episode of the daily pep, just because your morning routine doesn't look like you want it to, doesn't mean you don't have a morning routine. So I think if we can remind ourselves that we don't have to pull our whole boat out of the water all the time, I think that means two things. Number one, that takes the pressure off because we can start small. We can tinker with what we've got as we go. And number two, it means we can start right now rather than putting it off to the perfect someday. And I think there's something else that's perhaps most important of all for all of us type a overachievers, and we wanna do the best we can, and we wanna work on ourselves and become the best version of ourselves that we can.

And it's to remember that we actually get to enjoy being on the water and being in a boat. Yes. There are always gonna be things we wanna work on, but we also get to enjoy the view. We don't always have to be fixing up a different part of ourselves. To go on land for a bit, it's a bit like a house. It can be really fun to do a project, and you're like, oh, that's really cool, and it improves your life. But if you are constantly living in project after project after project and you're constantly doing the hard work, then you don't get to enjoy the fruits of your labor and it just gets to be stressful and unsatisfying. So here's to just tinkering about.

Here's to knowing that you don't have to fix everything at once. And here's to giving ourselves permission to also just float. So have a good one. And to end with some sound advice and some awful puns, remember to seize the day and do what floats your boat.
