1452: Honestly, we’re all winging it

Today’s episode is a reminder that this is all of our first experience of being human, and we’re not behind, or falling short.

Episode transcript:

Good morning Daily Peppers and a very happy Wednesday to you. So we kicked off this week talking about the Rebel Archetype quiz and the four main kind of obstacles and hurdles and things that we have to deal with as creatures. Creative, multi passionate women. We talked about how it can be really hard dealing with self doubt and managing our inner dream shitter. We talked about how it can be challenging working with the limitations that we have on our time and energy. How sometimes it can be a bit tricky to figure out where we're going, how it all makes sense and what to focus on. And also how we keep motivated and keep our own light lit and build a joyful life. Now I'm going to chat a bit more about them in a second, but I also wanted to spend a bit of time talking about the absolute gifts we get from the journey.

We can find so much value and validation from getting to know ourselves and finding the things that really speak to us. Our curiosity is absolutely a superpower and leads to a much more interesting life. We often have a much greater capacity for joy and we're often much more intentional about how we choose to spend our finite resources, our time and energy. And I think one of life's biggest gifts really is building the life that only you can live and feeling at home within yourself. Those things often come as a byproduct of being on this journey and sometimes they're harder to see because our brains are wired to see the negative things and to search for the problems and the danger. So if you need a reminder of the beauty of this journey, then hopefully I've shown you a bit of that. But what I really wanted to talk about today is the fact that when it comes to struggles on this journey, we all have them. There are going to be different areas we struggle with more than others.

We're going to have different seasons where one shows up more than another one. Sometimes it might feel like a shit show across the board and sometimes we can be feeling almost hesitantly confident. We know where we're going, we feel motivated and we know what we're focusing on. And it can also feel a bit weird, like we're waiting for the other shoe to drop. And what I find the real bullshit of it all to be is that we live in a society where we kind of just assume that everybody else has got their shit figured out. So many of us are going around trying to figure out different approaches to things and trying to tackle different things that we struggle with imagining that we're doing something wrong or why we find something in particular hard that other people seem to have absolutely no problem with, when the truth is we're all winging it. We're all kind of making it up as we go along. We all have our different flavors of hard, and no one is immune from the struggle.

And just because you might be struggling in a certain area doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you or you're doing anything wrong. And it also might not even be an individual thing. We live our lives under so many systems of oppression. The world doesn't work in many ways for a lot of us. We all start at a different starting point. And I always go back to that Emily McDowell quote about whether something is actually a personal failure or an impossible setup. So as you go about your day to day, know that truly we are all winging it. We're all new at doing this life thing.

We are all trying our best. And I think if we zoomed out and we could see it from somebody else's perspective, we might see that we are doing a fucking fabulous job and we're further ahead than we thought we were. So happy Hump day. If you've not already found your Rebel archetype, you can do that by going to the rebelrises.com quiz. Thank you for being here for launch week, and also thank you for being here. It is a joy to start the day with you.
