1459: Seasonal living vs the productivity bros
We've all heard the absolute BS the productivity bros have been spouting at us for some time now, so to wrap up this week's episodes of The Daily Pep! I'm offering a seasonal alternative.
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Friday to you. So to wrap up this week on The Daily Pep, I wanted to pop in and remind you of some things that I think we could never get sick of hearing. And we might intellectually know, but can feel really hard to remember on a soul level when we tend to be so damn hard on ourselves and always find fault with ourselves. Because here's the truth that we often forget and we generally aren't brought up with your best is going to look different on different days. You will have some days where you feel shitty. You have days where it's hard to get out of bed, but you also have days when you laugh harder than you have in a long time and you feel really fired up and inspired. The same way as there's going to be so many different seasons of your life, in some seasons it will be about surviving. In other seasons you'll be absolutely thriving.
And in other seasons you might be really striving and being really laser focused. And in other seasons you might just not be that productive because of all the work and the energy it takes to do said surviving, thriving and striving. For so many of us, we are brought up with this cultural norm that every day you do your best and you push yourself hard and your outputs are going to be similar. But that is never ever the case. But the problem is, is that we end up thinking that there's something wrong with us rather than the bullshit system that we've had thrust upon us. We all have wildly different lives and wildly different circumstances. We have different levels of energy and capacity. We have different responsibilities.
And so much of the stuff out there that gets put on a pedestal, just pretend that isn't the case. If you look at so many of the morning video routines on YouTube, and if you look at a load of advice by the productivity bros and the tech bros, well, let's face it, not all of us can get up at 5am and do 10 minutes of yoga, 10 minutes of journaling, 10 minutes of meditating, and then jump into our really handy cold plunge pool outside. That is not a reality for a lot of us. And also in different seasons we need different things. And that's where our love of flexibility and creativity comes into it. As much as our culture would like it to be otherwise and says it is otherwise, we cannot go with the foot on the gas pedal the entire time. A car literally doesn't work like that and neither do our fragile human bodies. So here's to embracing the season we're actually in here's to honouring the days where it feels like we're having every season in one. And here's to treating ourselves more like the humans we are rather than machines, as that fabulous saying goes. You know I love not everything in nature blooms all year long, so don't expect yourself to either. So let's take that into the weekend and if you're curious about treating yourself more like a human, honouring your own seasons and also your own curiosities and finding your own ways of doing things, I would love for you to join my seasonal living class which is starting this Saturday November 8, 2025. It's a two parter so this week we are really going to be diving into what the fuck seasonal living even is and how we can really harness it as creatives, as the non woo and the woo adjacent people and a way we can use it to also support our hobbies and curiosities. And then in part two, which is happening on Sunday 16th November, we're using everything we learned and putting into practice for the winter season ahead of us, which I know many of us struggle with. It's going to be really cozy, it's also going to be seriously helpful and I can't wait to really dive into this fabulous and creative alternative to the boom and burnout cycle that so many of us get stuck in. It costs 25 pounds to join both parts of the workshop. There will be recordings available with lifetime access if you can't attend live and I would bloody love to see you there. So have a good one. Check that out if it sounds like it's up your street and I can't wait to be back with you soon.
