Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. So I want to kick off this week on the Daily Pep with some unconventional wisdom. Now, if you've been in your inbox or on social media lately, you'll have seen so much talk about finishing the year strong, getting shit done, and kind of making yourself proud by the end of the year. And today I'm just giving us all permission to say fuck that shit, because if the year was to finish now, we have been strong motherfuckers this year. This year has tested us in so many different ways that we expected and didn't expect at all. And also, I don't really think that right now for a lot of us to go balls to the wall if for whatever reason you have to. I've got some advice and tips around that in a second, but I just wanted to remind us that as animals, we're not really designed to go 100% at this time of the year. And if you're feeling exhausted and you can't really be fucked, or if you feel like your social battery is drained and you just need to take a minute for yourself, I'd say that lines up pretty well with the season that we're in.

And maybe rather than trying to journal and figure out why you're not motivated, maybe it is just that you're in alignment with the season. So much of the work I do with my fabulous coaching clients is finding ways to really get shit done and make significant progress in the things that matter to us with compassion. But I knew when I started getting a lot of the emails about finishing strong myself, I was like, that's the last thing we need at the moment. And that just could turn into some artificial pressure. So this is your permission slip to lean into the season, to say no to the things that you can do and to aim for a grade C rather than an A. And if this is just a really busy season for you and. And you just have to go hard, then I think we reframe what success looks like for the end of the year. Maybe it's not getting every single thing done in your list, but it's getting to the Christmas holidays, not being completely burnt out and exhausted and depleted.

And I think if we made that your biggest goal and your kind of touchstone for this season, it would be a great way to simplify and prioritize what you've got going on. So here's the saying, fuck it, we've done enough. Maybe all the things on the list don't need to get done maybe we will drop some of the plates we're spinning and the world won't end. And you might even find, like I have myself and so many of the fabulous women I work with that you can actually get a shit done. More with compassion than beating yourself up. So here's to knowing we are already ending the year strong and to not ending the year depleted. I'll see you tomorrow.
