1124: A sassy one about your time and energy

I firmly believe our time and our energy are two of the most precious things we have, and today's episode is a rallying cry to protect them fiercely!

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Friday to you. It is so nearly the end of the week and I have a sassy 1 to wrap us up. Now, 1 of the things I firmly believe is that your time and your energy are 2 of the most precious things that you will ever have. And they are also 2 of the things that are usually the easiest to give away. To give away to things that don't really matter, that seem important in the moment but aren't in the grand scheme of things, and to people who are not worth 10 seconds of your time, let alone 10 hours. Now this isn't about being like, fuck everyone and fuck everything and figure out a way to throw all your vices out the window. Because we know life isn't that simple And if it was super easy to do, we would have done it already. But I just wanna remind you that you do get to say no to people.

That does not make you selfish. And you get to have your own back and stand up for yourself. Now standing up for yourself, in my opinion anyway, isn't about saying fuck you. Though there are times when that can be necessary, but it can be refusing to add more things to your calendar, telling people that you are at capacity, or telling people no and not even giving a reason. It can also look like figuring out what the things you really wanna spend time on are. It can also look like figuring out what it is that you'd really like to dedicate more time to and going on a bit of a hunt to find that time. Now this isn't about robbing yourself of all the joys, but it can be clawing back some time for you. Because the main person who is gonna look after your time and energy is you.


Other people aren't gonna do it for you. Chances are other people are only gonna make more demands on your time and energy, and you get to protect them fiercely. Now I get that we've all got wildly different lives and we also have varying levels of control and power over our time and energy. But where you can try and allocate some of those precious resources to yourself, knowing that it is not selfish. And at the end of the day, you probably won't wish it. You worked harder and done more shit that was on other people's to do list. I think Sarah Knight says it best when she says, stop spending time you don't have doing things you don't wanna do with people you don't like. So that is my rallying cry for you as we go into this weekend.

You may not have all the time and energy you want, and that really does suck. But you also don't have to give the limited time and energy that you do have to people who don't deserve it and things that don't really matter. If you wanna dive into some really helpful and bullshit free ways to manage your time and energy and take some multi passionate nature into account. I created my solo adventure all about managing time and energy exactly for this reason. It's really fun. It's a great way to take yourself on a bit of a solo date and have much needed time connecting to yourself. It is self guided. You do it at your own pace, in your own place.
