856: It's okay to do something for you
It can be hard to justify spending time on ourselves, so if that's something you've been dealing with lately - this one's for you.

Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. So around here, we tend to be by highly sensitive, we tend to be empaths. And if we're socialised as women, we tend to be brought up to put others before ourselves.
And while that does mean that we do make the world a brighter place and we often make people's days, it also means that sometimes we struggle to give ourselves permission to give things to ourselves as well. So for today's Daily Pep, I just wanna remind you that it is okay to take time for you. It is okay to schedule yourself and your diary the way you would an appointment for somebody else. It is also okay to spend money on yourself and treat yourself, and it is okay to put yourself first. It's like that saying which you probably roll our eyes at by now. About putting your own oxygen mask on first.
Now, if you have spent your life putting yourself last and putting everybody else first, Doing things for yourself is gonna feel uncomfortable and that's okay. It doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. It's unfamiliar territory. It's gonna feel weird. And your Dreamshitter is also probably gonna have a field day. So watch out for that too.
So if taking things for yourself and giving things to yourself feels completely new to you, really start small. And if you feel like you have so many responsibilities and obligations and you are so busy, that you couldn't possibly take any time for yourself. Think about the tiny, tiny, tiny things that you can do. They may feel inconsequential, but they will make a difference, and they're a really important step in telling yourself that you matter.
So go take up space, go take up time, and pour into your own cup knowing that it is not selfish, but completely necessary even if it feels really uncomfortable. So that is my pep talk for you today. Have a good one Be extra kind to yourself, and I'll see you tomorrow.
