1467: Here’s to our own messy process
Around here we love novelty and new, shiny things. But sometimes what we really need to embrace is our own tried and true messy ways.
Episode transcript:
Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Wednesday to you. It is hump day and today I want to remind you to trust your own process. So lately I've been doing some business planning and I simply forgot just how much I fucking love Post it notes. I can get really tempted and seduced by all of the latest productivity apps and I often forget that I do my best thinking with pen and paper. And when it comes to really brainstorming and figuring things out for me, there's very little that is better than the Post it note. Now, I am not here to sell you on Post it notes, although I'm sure I could do that at length. But I am here to remind you to go with what works. It can be so easy to fall down the rabbit hole of what tools do other people use? What would be the best way of doing this? And for many of us who are neurospicy, we love novelty and just the glimmer of a shiny new thing gets us really excited.
But sometimes there's nothing better than going back to the tried and true for you. Now you may do your best thinking on a walk or at the gym. You may bloody love a spreadsheet. You might be more of a verbal processor and find voice memos really helpful. And the most important thing to remember is it only has to work for you. It doesn't matter if it looks messy. It doesn't matter if it is understandable or legible to anybody else. What matters is that it works for your brain and your way of thinking.
So whatever problem you're trying to solve right now, whatever you're trying to work out, maybe a brand new tool and maybe a brand new perspective aren't what you need. Maybe you need good old fashioned time with yourself in the way that has made the most sense in the past. Even if that looks like doing a collage. Here's to figuring our shit out. Here's to remembering that we know way more than we think we do. And here's to doing it in our own messy way. I'll see you tomorrow.

1464: Some lovingly bossy homework
Bossy Meg is back and today we’re wrapping up this week on the Daily Pep! with a reminder that we all need time to just be human.
Episode transcript:
Good morning Daily Peppers and a very happy Friday to you. So today's episode is a really practical one. So I kicked off this week by declaring that we can all say fuck it, to ending the year strong. And, and believe me, I am not changing my mind on that. If anything, today we are doubling down because I want you to look at your calendar for the rest of the year and figure out when you are blocking some time off for you because in the run up to Christmas and in the next kind of six weeks, everything just starts getting quite chaotic. It can all go by in a bit of a blur. We end up over committing and saying yes to way too many things and we can end up resentful and exhausted. And if we do have any time to take off over the holidays, it ends up being recovery time rather than resting time.
And that is if that's even a possibility in the first place. So to all of my self employed friends, I want to make sure that you have got some time booked off and I seriously mean off. I know it can be tempting to do a little bit here and there, but for our work, wherever possible, I know this year has been a wild one for business. We need to be able to have some time where we can just be the human. Not the worker, not the CEO, not the freelancer. We just need some time to be human. And if we're working for ourselves, we don't necessarily have accountability or the structure to get the dates in. So this is me bossily telling you to, to do that now, now if you're not self employed, don't run your own business.
There are a myriad of situations that we could be in and I'm not going to go into all of them because I'm really worried I'm going to leave one out. But whatever our situation, I also think it's important to look at kind of the months ahead and look at kind of how spread out or how compact things are and really build in some rest. Now might be a really good time to start negotiating when it comes to what things you do want to do and what things you want to say no to. If you buy gifts, how you can make that as simple as possible. But if gifts are your love language, by all means go wild. But I think it can just be really helpful to take a bit of a moment before the festive fuckery begins to situate yourself to see what kind of a season it is for you, what you need to say no to, what you'd like to say no to, and also what you'd really like to make space for and to say yes to. Because whatever situation we're in, chances are no one else is going to keep us accountable for prioritizing ourselves or putting our needs on the table. So this is your bossy homework to do.
So carve out some time this weekend. Know that no matter what it looks like on the outside, nobody has a Hallmark family Christmas. See if you can open up some spaces on your calendar to just be because this season is a lot, and I'm pretty sure your future self is going to be really damn grateful that you did this. So you've got your homework, you got through the week. Now let's put your needs back on the table. Have a good one, and I look forward to being back with you here on the Daily Prep on Monday or in your inbox on Sunday for my Letter of Rebellion. And if you want to join but haven't already, you can find out how to do that in the show notes or by going to thereebelrousers.com/letters either way, I look forward to seeing you then. And Happy Friday.

1462: Sometimes you have to take the boring route
Today’s episode is inspired by our road trip back to the UK! We’re focusing on how there are times in life where we need to avoid doing what others feel is the most exciting thing ever, and take our own needs into consideration, even if it’s a bit dull.
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Wednesday to you. Now, on the day this episode goes out to you, we will be traveling from Germany back to the UK. As you know, if you've been around here for quite a long time. I only passed my driving test about three years ago and my goodness, we have got the miles in. We love a road trip. We're also really good at picking a particular podcast or audiobook we really want to listen to on our road trip and just completely not doing it. I also love a road trip, but when it comes to traveling with the deadlines, we've got to get to the Eurotunnel by a certain time and also our newly acquired challenge of traveling with insulin, which needs to be kept at a certain cold temperature the entire time. We don't necessarily do the stereotypical meandering road trip where we stop in certain places, we have a destination, we pick the most direct route that we can find, we pack food before we go, we stop for coffee in boring places when we need to, and we definitely don't take the scenic route.
Now I'm aware that that makes me sound like a completely boring fart. And you know what? I'm okay with that because for many of us, the idea of making everything as interesting as possible and taking in all the scenery and doing all the fun stuff can end up feeling more like a burden. I know for me that on long travel days I cannot stop in a massive supermarket because I will get so excited and overstimulated that my concentration for driving is gone. I know what I need on those days and for me, I just need to get from A to B. So I guess my point for this more rambly episode is to remind you that not everything has to be utterly fascinating, which is hard for us creatives and multi passionates because we really want to make it so. But it's okay if you're doing something that just needs to be done and it's not photo worthy, it's not particularly story worthy, and you just get it done because sometimes you just need to do that. There's a time for a really good random road trip where you stop in all the weird places you find, and there's also a time for just getting to the destination. But I think a gift that we need to remember we all have is that we can find the fun and the curious along the way.
Even if we choose the boring route, I still end up finding the weird and the wonderful in the service stations we stop in, in the cities we drive through, and maybe that is the best of both. So in case you need a reminder today, it's okay to do the sensible thing, it's okay to do the boring thing. Sometimes that is required. And sometimes that's exactly what you need to do to get to the fun bits. We are over halfway through this week, and we can do it. I'll see you tomorrow.

1461: Finding glimmers in the dark
In the Northern Hemisphere we’re approaching the darker months, which can be challenging. So today I’m sharing a fun community challenge to find some silliness in this season.
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. Now, in the Northern hemisphere, we are approaching winter and I know not many of us are a huge fan of the short days and the dark nights, and you might even be sick of hearing about it and thinking about it. But today I've got a bit of a fun challenge for you. So I have an email community called Letters of Rebellion. And for this week's email, I sent out an invitation for us to really look for the glimmers and the brightness during this season. Now, this was inspired by a quest that I've just kind of decided to start while we're traveling and getting back to the UK and to find the ugliest Christmas ornament that I possibly can. And I think sometimes we need a really silly challenge and something just a bit fun to enjoy during the season. I know for a lot of us we are highly sensitive and or neurodivergent and Christmas shopping isn't exactly the most fun because the lights are so bright, the music is so loud and.
And some people just turn into absolute arseholes. So my community challenge for this season is to find the ugliest, the naffest, the cheesiest, the most downright bizarre Christmas things that you can find. And I am so excited to put them together in an email roundup just before Christmas to give us all a bit of a giggle, to provide a bit of joy, to share and connect with our own glimmers and. And to also give us a fun challenge and something that we can look for when we're getting sick of the festive shit. So if you want to join, come over to the rebelrousers.com letters where you can join my email community. Please send photos of what you find. This year seems to be a fucking brilliant one when it comes to the most random and just awful Christmas tree decorations. So I can't wait to see what you find.
And here's to some silliness during this season. Create your own challenge. Go off in whatever direction you need to. And if you're looking for some really practical, no bullshit and fun ways to get through the festive fuckery, my digital Advent calendar might just be for you. It's really fun. It's really sassy. There is a delight behind every door as well as a really bad Christmas joke. And it's designed to bring a bit of joy back into December and also give you a bit of time for you, the Advent calendar is £12 to buy and you can get it by going to the rebelrousers.com/rebelchristmas where you can also find out more about what's inside. Here's to silliness. And here's to finding some glimmers and bringing some more light to our own lives. I'll see you tomorrow.

1460: You’ve already finished this year strong
Today I’m kicking off the week with some unconventional wisdom around finishing the year strong, and giving you permission to aim for a C-.
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. So I want to kick off this week on the Daily Pep with some unconventional wisdom. Now, if you've been in your inbox or on social media lately, you'll have seen so much talk about finishing the year strong, getting shit done, and kind of making yourself proud by the end of the year. And today I'm just giving us all permission to say fuck that shit, because if the year was to finish now, we have been strong motherfuckers this year. This year has tested us in so many different ways that we expected and didn't expect at all. And also, I don't really think that right now for a lot of us to go balls to the wall if for whatever reason you have to. I've got some advice and tips around that in a second, but I just wanted to remind us that as animals, we're not really designed to go 100% at this time of the year. And if you're feeling exhausted and you can't really be fucked, or if you feel like your social battery is drained and you just need to take a minute for yourself, I'd say that lines up pretty well with the season that we're in.
And maybe rather than trying to journal and figure out why you're not motivated, maybe it is just that you're in alignment with the season. So much of the work I do with my fabulous coaching clients is finding ways to really get shit done and make significant progress in the things that matter to us with compassion. But I knew when I started getting a lot of the emails about finishing strong myself, I was like, that's the last thing we need at the moment. And that just could turn into some artificial pressure. So this is your permission slip to lean into the season, to say no to the things that you can do and to aim for a grade C rather than an A. And if this is just a really busy season for you and. And you just have to go hard, then I think we reframe what success looks like for the end of the year. Maybe it's not getting every single thing done in your list, but it's getting to the Christmas holidays, not being completely burnt out and exhausted and depleted.
And I think if we made that your biggest goal and your kind of touchstone for this season, it would be a great way to simplify and prioritize what you've got going on. So here's the saying, fuck it, we've done enough. Maybe all the things on the list don't need to get done maybe we will drop some of the plates we're spinning and the world won't end. And you might even find, like I have myself and so many of the fabulous women I work with that you can actually get a shit done. More with compassion than beating yourself up. So here's to knowing we are already ending the year strong and to not ending the year depleted. I'll see you tomorrow.

1459: Seasonal living vs the productivity bros
We've all heard the absolute BS the productivity bros have been spouting at us for some time now, so to wrap up this week's episodes of The Daily Pep! I'm offering a seasonal alternative.
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Friday to you. So to wrap up this week on The Daily Pep, I wanted to pop in and remind you of some things that I think we could never get sick of hearing. And we might intellectually know, but can feel really hard to remember on a soul level when we tend to be so damn hard on ourselves and always find fault with ourselves. Because here's the truth that we often forget and we generally aren't brought up with your best is going to look different on different days. You will have some days where you feel shitty. You have days where it's hard to get out of bed, but you also have days when you laugh harder than you have in a long time and you feel really fired up and inspired. The same way as there's going to be so many different seasons of your life, in some seasons it will be about surviving. In other seasons you'll be absolutely thriving.
And in other seasons you might be really striving and being really laser focused. And in other seasons you might just not be that productive because of all the work and the energy it takes to do said surviving, thriving and striving. For so many of us, we are brought up with this cultural norm that every day you do your best and you push yourself hard and your outputs are going to be similar. But that is never ever the case. But the problem is, is that we end up thinking that there's something wrong with us rather than the bullshit system that we've had thrust upon us. We all have wildly different lives and wildly different circumstances. We have different levels of energy and capacity. We have different responsibilities.
And so much of the stuff out there that gets put on a pedestal, just pretend that isn't the case. If you look at so many of the morning video routines on YouTube, and if you look at a load of advice by the productivity bros and the tech bros, well, let's face it, not all of us can get up at 5am and do 10 minutes of yoga, 10 minutes of journaling, 10 minutes of meditating, and then jump into our really handy cold plunge pool outside. That is not a reality for a lot of us. And also in different seasons we need different things. And that's where our love of flexibility and creativity comes into it. As much as our culture would like it to be otherwise and says it is otherwise, we cannot go with the foot on the gas pedal the entire time. A car literally doesn't work like that and neither do our fragile human bodies. So here's to embracing the season we're actually in here's to honouring the days where it feels like we're having every season in one. And here's to treating ourselves more like the humans we are rather than machines, as that fabulous saying goes. You know I love not everything in nature blooms all year long, so don't expect yourself to either. So let's take that into the weekend and if you're curious about treating yourself more like a human, honouring your own seasons and also your own curiosities and finding your own ways of doing things, I would love for you to join my seasonal living class which is starting this Saturday November 8, 2025. It's a two parter so this week we are really going to be diving into what the fuck seasonal living even is and how we can really harness it as creatives, as the non woo and the woo adjacent people and a way we can use it to also support our hobbies and curiosities. And then in part two, which is happening on Sunday 16th November, we're using everything we learned and putting into practice for the winter season ahead of us, which I know many of us struggle with. It's going to be really cozy, it's also going to be seriously helpful and I can't wait to really dive into this fabulous and creative alternative to the boom and burnout cycle that so many of us get stuck in. It costs 25 pounds to join both parts of the workshop. There will be recordings available with lifetime access if you can't attend live and I would bloody love to see you there. So have a good one. Check that out if it sounds like it's up your street and I can't wait to be back with you soon.

1454: 2 reminders for your curious, fabulous self
We’re rounding this week off on the Daily Pep with two reminders I think we all need to hear but rarely do in the personal development world!
Episode transcript:
Hello and a Happy Friday to you. So this week on The Daily Pep has been all about uncovering your own rebel archetype and also leaning into the fact that you have value, strength, strengths and gifts that you've already been putting out into the world. And you do so naturally, whether or not you can recognize or name them. Now, to wrap up this week, I want to share with you two reminders that we all really need to hear, which we don't always tend to hear in the personal development world. That can sometimes have us feeling like we're a problem that needs to be fixed or we need to read these five books before we can even get started on something we're looking forward to. So reminder number one, if something doesn't work for you, it just doesn't work for you. And that's okay. Maybe it wasn't designed for you.
Maybe it could work in a different season of your life, but maybe it's just not that season. And that's okay. There's so much stuff to try. We're going to talk about that in a second. But I think it is so important that we come back to this idea that if something doesn't work, that doesn't mean there's something wrong with us. It doesn't mean that we've personally failed. It just might not be the right fit around here. We tend to be so damn hard on ourselves, and sometimes it doesn't even occur to us that that solution or that thing just isn't right for us because we automatically blame ourselves or find a fault in ourself.
So that was number one. If something doesn't work for you, it might just not be for you. And that's okay. And my second and final reminder for you as we wrap up this week is to use your natural curiosity with yourself around here. We are lifelong learners. We are endlessly curious, and there's so many things we want to learn about. And you can also go down the rabbit hole of yourself and how your brain works about what really suits you, your own patterns, your own rhythms and the wonderful and weird ways that you work. If we each came with a user manual, your name would be on the front of it.
Yes, there may be some contributors, but you are a huge part of that and you get to own it and you also get to have fun with it. So much of the time. Personal development work can feel like work, but I believe it can also be really fun. It can be about reclaiming a sense of play. It can be a great excuse to buy a new notebook, and it can also be good fun just getting to know yourself as you would a friend, as cheesy as that might be. So keep these things around you and about you as you go about your weekend. Thank you so much for being here while I celebrate the release of the Rebel Archetype Quiz. It has been such a joy to share it with you and I hope you found it really helpful.
And I can't wait to be back with you on Sunday in your inbox or Monday in your lovely ear holes to continue sharing regular encouragement and Rebel Rousing for us square pegs and round holes who are fabulous the way we are. I'll see you soon.

1453: You put magic into the world (even if you can’t name it)
We can fall into the pattern of assuming that everyone else apart from us has their shit together - but they don’t! Today we’re bringing the attention back to ourselves, and our unique gifts.
Episode transcript:
Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Thursday to you. So this week I have been sharing about my Rebel Archetype quiz. And if you've been meaning to take it but haven't yet, it lives over at therebelrousers.com/quiz. And we've been diving into how sometimes many of us around here feel like a square peg in a round hole. How many times we can struggle with self doubt and finding focus and keeping ourselves motivated, and also the beautiful things that come along for the ride that we maybe don't focus on as much. And I really want to dive into that a bit more today by focusing on your gifts and your strengths and your values. When you uncover whether you're a messy rebel, a gentle rebel, an undercover rebel, or a joyful rebel, you get a really good starting off point at a lot of this stuff. So if you're thinking, Meg, I've got no fucking clue what those are for me, then that is a really good place to start.
And I also want to say that just because you can't name your gifts, your values, your strengths, your superpowers, doesn't mean that you don't have them. For so many of us, it is hard to see our lives and ourselves as humans objectively. And we also have a lot of things that come really naturally to us. But because we've only got experience of being ourselves, we assume that everybody else finds them easy. And that is often not the case. Often your zone of genius can be found in the things that you do that you assume are just something everybody has. And one day you figure out, actually, it might be a real strength that I've got. But whether you can identify your values, your gifts, your strengths or not, this is the most important thing.
They exist. Whether you can name and identify and label them, and you are already bringing them to the world, and you have been for your whole life. You don't get to just spread your magic once you can really explicitly write down what it is. There are things about you and the way you approach life and your combination of experiences, your values, your perspectives on things that are absolutely unique to you and you are doing them, whether or not you've ever thought about this stuff before in your life. Now it can be a real confidence boost to find out what those things are and really dig around this topic. But please know that you are having more of an impact than you think and you are already bringing to the world something really special without even necessarily knowing can be so hard to see our own magic when we are so close to it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And also, one of the ironic and frustrating things about our own magic is sometimes it's stuff we can really easily do and see for other people, but it can be so hard to apply to our own life. But that does not make you a fraud.
That does not mean you don't know what you're doing. If anything, it shows that you really are a good person to be speaking about that and doing that stuff. I've had to learn that the hard way, and through many journaling sessions and figuring things out, because I've often given myself a hard time about the fact that what I can do so easily for other people I find excruciatingly hard to do myself doesn't take away any of the power. And it's just a case of often we are too close and too emotionally involved in our own stuff. So have a fabulous Thursday and remember that even if you're too close to yourself and you can't quite see it, you have so many skills and gifts and strengths that you are already working your magic with. And trust that they really, really are already there and have been for a long time, even if you can't name them. But if you do want a hand with naming them, the Free Rebel Archetype Quiz is a really helpful tool and I've put the link in the show notes. See you tomorrow.
And remember, as always, that everything changes when you believe you matter.

Episode transcript:
Good morning Daily Peppers and a very happy Wednesday to you. So we kicked off this week talking about the Rebel Archetype quiz and the four main kind of obstacles and hurdles and things that we have to deal with as creatures. Creative, multi passionate women. We talked about how it can be really hard dealing with self doubt and managing our inner dream shitter. We talked about how it can be challenging working with the limitations that we have on our time and energy. How sometimes it can be a bit tricky to figure out where we're going, how it all makes sense and what to focus on. And also how we keep motivated and keep our own light lit and build a joyful life. Now I'm going to chat a bit more about them in a second, but I also wanted to spend a bit of time talking about the absolute gifts we get from the journey.
We can find so much value and validation from getting to know ourselves and finding the things that really speak to us. Our curiosity is absolutely a superpower and leads to a much more interesting life. We often have a much greater capacity for joy and we're often much more intentional about how we choose to spend our finite resources, our time and energy. And I think one of life's biggest gifts really is building the life that only you can live and feeling at home within yourself. Those things often come as a byproduct of being on this journey and sometimes they're harder to see because our brains are wired to see the negative things and to search for the problems and the danger. So if you need a reminder of the beauty of this journey, then hopefully I've shown you a bit of that. But what I really wanted to talk about today is the fact that when it comes to struggles on this journey, we all have them. There are going to be different areas we struggle with more than others.
We're going to have different seasons where one shows up more than another one. Sometimes it might feel like a shit show across the board and sometimes we can be feeling almost hesitantly confident. We know where we're going, we feel motivated and we know what we're focusing on. And it can also feel a bit weird, like we're waiting for the other shoe to drop. And what I find the real bullshit of it all to be is that we live in a society where we kind of just assume that everybody else has got their shit figured out. So many of us are going around trying to figure out different approaches to things and trying to tackle different things that we struggle with imagining that we're doing something wrong or why we find something in particular hard that other people seem to have absolutely no problem with, when the truth is we're all winging it. We're all kind of making it up as we go along. We all have our different flavors of hard, and no one is immune from the struggle.
And just because you might be struggling in a certain area doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you or you're doing anything wrong. And it also might not even be an individual thing. We live our lives under so many systems of oppression. The world doesn't work in many ways for a lot of us. We all start at a different starting point. And I always go back to that Emily McDowell quote about whether something is actually a personal failure or an impossible setup. So as you go about your day to day, know that truly we are all winging it. We're all new at doing this life thing.
We are all trying our best. And I think if we zoomed out and we could see it from somebody else's perspective, we might see that we are doing a fucking fabulous job and we're further ahead than we thought we were. So happy Hump day. If you've not already found your Rebel archetype, you can do that by going to the rebelrises.com quiz. Thank you for being here for launch week, and also thank you for being here. It is a joy to start the day with you.

1451: Let's work with ourselves, not against ourselves
Today I'm offering a gentler way to honour your quirks, gifts, and authentic self!
Episode transcript:
Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. So yesterday I introduced you to my fabulous tour the Rebel Archetype Pros, and it has been an absolute joy seeing what kind of rebels we have amongst them us. And if you've missed out on the fun, you can go uncover your Rebel Archetype by going to thereebelroses.com quiz or using the link in the Show Notes. Now today I thought it might be interesting to dive a bit deeper into the whole working on ourselves thing, because I think it will come as no surprise to any of you who've been listening a while. We tend to be really into personal development around here. We are lifelong learners, we are working on our own shit and we are trying to build a life that really authentically aligns with who we are, what matters to us, and what brings us joy. And if we're in this sphere, we're probably reading a bunch of self help books, we're probably on a bunch of newsletters, we probably listen to a bunch of podcasts, and we've also probably come across what I lovingly call the self help bullshit. And you probably know exactly what I'm referring to.
The really rigid ways of how you should be living your life in three easy steps which are going to guarantee lifelong happiness. The obsession of getting up at 5am and doing so much before 6am that you probably need to nap again by 7am and also just the absolute bollocks that has you feeling worse about yourself than you did to begin with. My huge gripe with a lot of the self help stuff out there, and I know things are improving is how we're often left feeling that we are a problem that needs to be fixed. I remember burning out really, really hard just over 10 years ago, having time off work and going into the self help section of Waterstones, which in the UK is kind of our equivalent to Barnes and Noble. Feeling pretty vulnerable if I'm honest, and also being just completely overwhelmed by how many things I was now supposed to be working on and how everybody had this blueprint. But when the blueprint didn't work, I wasn't necessarily encouraged to criticize or critique the blueprint, but rather it must be me doing something wrong yet again. Now I know we are all much more discerning and things have changed a lot for the better, but I do think there is a risk when we're into the whole kind of personal development world of feeling like there is something wrong with us and we just need to figure out what it is and solve it. And I just want to pop in today and remind you that there's nothing wrong with you.
You do not need to be fixed. You are not a problem to be solved. I think so many of our challenges can come from trying to fit ourselves into different moulds, following other people's rules for what a good life or a productive life looks like and ignoring the things that we already know to be true. So much of my work is about coming home to yourself, unlearning as much as learning and also finding and honouring your own ways to do things and knowing that they are probably much more valid than whatever the current self help bestseller is currently saying. I don't even know what it is. We can end up spending so much time inadvertently working against ourselves when maybe the answer is to work with ourselves, to accept that maybe we're going to feel like a square peg in a round hole some days. Maybe we have challenges and things about ourselves that really frustrate us. And maybe we also have gifts that we didn't even know were there.
The whole idea behind my Rebel Archetype quiz was really to equip you with some fresh perspectives of seeing yourself and seeing with what you're already working with and how that is already fabulous. Often we feel like in order to make change we need to burn everything down. But the truth is sometimes it is just really about some tiny tweaks and they can make all the difference. So the Rebel Archetype is there as a tool for you if you want to dive into it. And I hope as you go about your day to day you remember that you are not some blob of clay sitting on the pottery wheel ready to be made into something beautiful by somebody else. But you are already this quirky, fabulous, wonderfully weird vase that contains multitudes and can hold so many bright flowers and so much joy. Speaking of joy, I hope you find some unexpected joy today and I'll be back with you again tomorrow. See you then.

1450: A fun tool to help your rebel self thrive!
Today I'm sharing something really helpful and practical for when it comes to recognising your values, gifts and strengths, and working WITH your brain, rather than against it.
Episode transcript:
Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. So today I'm really excited because I get to introduce you to one of the coolest things I've created, which is my free Revel Archetype Quest quiz. I don't know about you, but I adore anything that can help me understand myself more and how I work a bit more. And I also fucking love a quiz. It is wild to me how much quizzes have come along and I know that I found things like Gretchen Rubin's Four Tendencies quiz really helpful to understand how I interact with internal and external expectations. I love Jonathan Field's Sparketype assessment and I think it was always on the cards for me to do my own. So I have been coaching brilliant creative women now for the past 10 years. And one of the most interesting things I found is that there are really, really clear patterns that have emerged around here.
And if we're creative and multi passionate and there tends to be four main themes and kind of obstacles and things that we have to tackle that simply come with the terrain and the path we're walking and they are managing your time and energy, especially when there's so much nuance to that. As many of us are highly sensitive empaths, we're neurodivergent and we all live in different circumstances with different responsibilities and different things that we need to manage. The second one is something we talk about a lot here on the Daily Pep, and that is self doubt in dealing with your inner dream shitter. The third thing that tends to be a mountain on our path is actually finding some clarity and some direction. And as our friend Dolly would put it, adjusting the sails as we go. It can just be really hard when there's so many things you want to do, so many things we want to start, we want to finish, and then you add the cherry on the top of the cake in that life is always lifing. Now, one of the things that I found really reassuring, and what I know a lot of my clients have found reassuring, is that if you struggle with any of these things, that's not some kind of personal failure or some kind of flaw. These things come with the territory of really wanting to make the most of your one wild and precious life, as Mary Oliver would say, and also really striving.
Now, the most exciting thing I found on this journey is that we all respond to these things in completely different ways. I found that there are four main rebel archetypes. You've got the Messy rebel, which is what I am, Joyful rebel Undercover Rebel and Gentle Rebel. And for those kind of different territories we talked about in terms of finding focus, self doubt, different things are going to work, for example, for a joyful rebel that are really going to stress a gentle rebel out. And things that make undercover rebels just thrive might be really challenging and not a good fit for a messy rebel. So I had a lot of fun putting together the Rebel Archetype Quiz to help you find out what your rebel archetype is. And I really went to town in trying to make it as helpful a tool as possible for you to understand more about how you can work with your brain rather than against your brain, your own unique superpowers, your own unique kryptonites, and understanding why some things work for you, some things don't, and why some things just make you want to rebel. So for today's daily prep, I wholeheartedly recommend you check out the Rebel Archetype Quiz.
The results come with a really cool poster that serves as a beautiful summary of some really helpful things for your particular archetype. And I also think you're really going to enjoy it. It's fun, it's quick, and I think it might just be the boost of confidence you need for this Monday morning so you can go take the quiz by going to the rebelrousers.com quiz. I've put the link in the show notes and if you take away nothing else from this episode, know that you are not alone when it comes to sometimes finding it really hard on this journey of building a life you love. It can be confronting. It means that we have to tackle a lot of our fears, but it's also not work that everybody does. But it can also be an absolute game changer. It can also be really satisfying, really rewarding, and we also get to do fun things like take quizzes and call it working on ourselves.
So have a great start to your week. I'm really excited for you to uncover your Rebel archetype and I'll see you tomorrow.

1449: It's time to audit your creative hobbies
It's getting to that time of the year where everything gets that little bit darker, so it's time to intentionally add some brightness to our lives.
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Friday to you. So it is that time of the year where the nights are starting to draw in and I know for a lot of us around here, let's just say we're not a fan, but something we do like is having something to really sink our teeth into. And this time of the year can be a really good time for hobbies. So today's daily prep is all about reminding you of different things you might have or different things you've looked into that might be really good for this time of the year. If you're listening to this, chances are you are multi passionate and like many of us, you have got into many things over the years. And chances are you carry some shame and guilt around past projects that you didn't do or you didn't finish. Well, first of all, you're not alone. We all have them and it is a sign that you are a creative and a curious person.
And maybe now is the time to give back to some of them if you want to. But now might also be a good chance to say fuck it and really lean into what you fancy doing. Now, I am 95% sure I've got ADHD and I really struggle with object permanence in that once it's out of mind, it's out of sight. For example, at some point last year I got really into hand embroidery. I put it in a drawer and I literally didn't think about it again for about nine months until I stumbled upon it and remembered, oh yeah, that was something that I really enjoyed. And I'm sharing this in case you're similar. And because I've got a homework challenge for both of us this weekend and it's a fun one, I want you to take stock and have an audit of different fun shit that you've already got that maybe you've forgotten about. Maybe it is a course, maybe it is a kit.
Maybe there are some books on your shelf that you've been wanting to read for years. Chances are you already have some epic stuff. When it comes to hobbies and it comes to things to do and we're taking away any weird feelings about whether we've forgotten they exist and let's just return to them and look at them and see how they feel. If nothing is speaking to you, maybe it's time to declutter and maybe it's about seeing the serendipity that can happen on your local buy nothing group. All of this is to say, go wild and go with what you feel. Many of us carry with us some guilt on around something we thought we'd get really into. Maybe we bought a whole bunch of stuff and we didn't touch it. And that's okay.
It is not the time of the year to make yourself feel worse about that. This time of the year can be hard enough as it is, so let's not add that to the mix. So here's to taking an audit of your creative hobbies. Here's to finding some new ones, rediscovering old ones. And here's to a season of doing things for joy's sake and intentionally adding more brightness to our lives. I hope you find some unexpected joy this weekend, and I can't wait to be back with you in your inbox on Sunday or in your fabulous ear holes on Monday. See you then.

1447: It's okay to not know
If you're in the middle of making a decision, or you've come to the end of something and don't know where to go next, today's pep talk is for you!
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Wednesday to you. And a very happy hump day to you. So today I thought I would pop into your lugholes to remind you that it's okay if you don't know the answer. I'm not saying it's comfortable, I'm not saying it's pleasant, and I know I fucking hate being there myself, but it is okay. In fact, I think it takes a lot of courage to sit with not knowing. Some decisions are just really hard sometimes. For example, at the end of a project we don't know what's going to come next. And sometimes it feels like the easiest thing to do would be to make a decision, any decision, so you don't have to spend time in that dreaded messy middle.
But I can definitely speak for myself when I say there have been many times in my life that I have made a decision simply to get myself out of that stuck, uncomfortable place. And those decisions have usually been made from a place of fear rather than a place of hope. And if we're going to pick one of the two, I would recommend making decisions from a place of hope or a place of curiosity. And with all of this, I think so much of it comes back to self trust. Trusting that we will figure out the path for us, that we've got ourselves out of a lot of sticky situations before now, and that something fabulous might be around the corner that we never could have imagined. So if you are in a place right now where you're not sure what's next or you're making a decision and you don't know what to do, while it's not a fun place to be, you are standing in your integrity, you're standing in your courage. And this is temporary. I found many times in my life that courage feels the least thing like courage at the time.
But when I look back I have a very different perspective and I think, who is that brave motherfucker? Remember, there is very, very rarely one right path. There are very many things in life that you can undo and that you may have a lot more power than you think you do. So here's to hope based decisions, not fear based decisions. And here's to you have a good one and I'll see you tomorrow.

1446: Sorry, but self care really is non-negotiable
As many of us know, burnout is all too real. So if you’re feeling reluctant to stop and take a pause, this episode is for you.
Episode transcript:
Good morning Daily Peppers and a very happy Tuesday to you. So for today's daily pep, I wanted to pop in and remind you that looking after yourself is a non negotiable. Unfortunately, many of us around here aren't strangers to burnout and many of us have learned the shitty way that we have to factor ourselves into the equation. But it can still be so damn hard to do. It is so easy to make a pact with ourselves where we promise ourselves we'll look after ourselves after we've done the thing. But we're multi passionate, we're busy and inevitably our goalposts often move and sometimes that time just doesn't come around. About this time of the year many of us are running on fumes. And often when we're in that place, that's when we convince ourselves there's no possible way we could take a break because everything's piling up on us.
Things are naturally taking longer because we have less brain space and capacity and it all feels really overwhelming. But often that is exactly when you need to take a break or when you need to up your self care rather than cut it down even more. And self care can look like whatever you need in your life. It has become very commercialized, it's very linked to treating ourselves and bubble baths. But it can also look like cancelling plans, half assing where you're able to and daring to put yourself higher up the list. Often taking a break when it feels like that's a really silly or illogical option is not only exactly what our soul needs, but it also means that we go back to things and we are so much more efficient. So the time we actually lost was net zero because we probably would have spent the time that we spent resting, trying to get shit done, not doing a very good job of it, making mistakes and feeling even worse. Now self care is going to look different for you in different seasons.
And I want you to remember that you do not have to defend your definition of self care to anybody. It is not selfish, definitely not a luxury. We all have limitations when it comes to how much time and energy we have. And yes, that can look wildly different from person to person, but it also applies to all of us. And while we're running on fumes, you might be surprised at the power of a small break. But take as much time as you are able to and say no to what's not important and what can wait for another day or what you wish you didn't say yes to in the first place. You're doing better than you think you are. You do not need to earn rest.
And if you are looking for a sign to slow down a bit and take a break. Even if it feels like the last thing you can do, this is it. I'll see you tomorrow.

1445: A way to reclaim your creative inspiration
We all tend to carry the heavy weight of ghosts of projects past, so today I’ve got a prompt and permission slip for you!
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. So being multi passionate and creative is kind of like a double edged sword. On one hand, we never run out of things to do and we have all the ideas. And on the other hand, we also beat ourselves up for not necessarily doing all of the ideas and having a bunch of unfinished projects. I know through my own life and through working with hundreds of creative women that our unfinished projects weigh heavy on us. They often bring a fair amount of shame, and they can very much feel like ghosts of projects past. And while we're sat here thinking of all the things we haven't done, it can completely get in the way when it comes to getting inspired about something, getting excited, or getting motivated because we simply don't give ourselves the permission to do the new shiny thing. We feel like we have to do the old thing, but we don't want to do the old thing.
And it can just feel a bit shit. So for this week, why don't you just go there? Imagine somebody was to miraculously take all of those unfinished projects and put them in storage, really safe for you, and you can go back and get them anytime. And you have absolute permission to do whatever you actually want to do. This magic storage facility that contains all of your ghosts of projects past is shame proof. They're not in the corner of the room glaring at you, and you are free to do what you actually want to do. And what I want you to do today is ask yourself that what would you do? Don't worry about whether you're actually going to do it. Don't worry about the logistics. Just see what comes up for you.
Because we can often feel stuck. We often don't know which direction to go in because the weight of past projects pulls us down. We carry shame around us about feeling flaky, and we curse our ability to find shiny new objects rather than see it as a superpower. By just imagining what permission you would give yourself can be a great way of seeing what you actually authentically want to do in the next season of your life. And it might actually give you some answers and some inspiration that you've been looking for. If I could invent that magic storage room, believe me, I would. But for now, what we can do is start rewriting the stories that that we hold around unfinished projects and give ourselves permission to just explore the idea of not finishing them. I hope you have a Monday.
As fabulous as you are. Here's to your wonderful creative brain. And here's to knowing. Even if you don't feel at all inspired. It will come back. I'll see you tomorrow.

1444: Let’s re-think overthinking
This one’s for all us over thinkers, maybe it’s time we give ourselves some grace!
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers and a very happy Friday. It is the end of the week and we have made it. And today's daily pep is all about overthinking. And it might not go in the direction you think it's going to. So there's this saying that if it's not a hell yes, it is a hell no. Or just if it's not a hell yes, it's a no. And while there are some things that that can apply to I believe not everything is that simple. A lot of the times when we make decisions, we are confronted by what our inner dreamsitter would have us do, what other people's expectations of us are, and what we think we should do.
So it's no wonder that sometimes it takes us a while to make a decision because there is quite a lot of gunk to wade through. Sometimes it can take us a little while to make a decision because it takes a little while for our intuition to kick in. And sometimes it is really, really hard to distinguish what we actually want versus what is expected of us. And often our inner dreamshitter masquerades as truth. For many of us around here, we've either called ourselves or been referred to as over thinkers. And while sometimes we can get in our own way and analyse things too much, I think we have to give ourselves a bit of grace and own the fact that sometimes it can take a little bit more time to make a decision that feels right for us. And around here we are nothing if not intentional. And sometimes that shit just takes time.
Sometimes it is worth putting a bit of a time container on ourselves, and other times we might only know something wasn't right for us when the deadline has passed, and that's kind of made our decision for us. So if you are making a decision at the moment or there's something you're stuck on, well, let's stop demonising ourselves for taking our time and being intentional. We tend to know when we're really overthinking things and that can be a great time to bring a friend in or do some journaling. And I also think it is worth noting that if your answer is no, but you can't put a reason to it, or it doesn't make sense on paper, don't dismiss it just because it doesn't make sense. Sometimes listening to yourself can feel really random and only makes sense in hindsight. So here's to working with our intentional brains rather than against them. Here's to not buying into the whole if it's not a hell yeah, it's a no bollocks.
And here's to doing what we can to make some space and some time to listen to ourselves in what can be a really, really noisy world. So some things there to take with you into the weekend. I hope you do something lovely for yourself today. I hope the weekend provides some wonderful, unexpected joy, and I can't wait to be back here with you on Monday morning for a new episode of the Daily Prep. Or in your inbox on Sunday if you're part of my email community. Either way, I look forward to seeing you soon. Take care and remember that everything changes when you believe you matter.

1442: Things just take longer (you’re not doing anything wrong)
If like me you often get frustrated by just how damn long things can take, then today I have a sassy and compassionate reminder for both of us.
Episode transcript:
Good morning Daily Peppers and a very happy Wednesday to you. So it is hump day and I have a sassy one for you because I want to pop in and remind you that things just take longer than we think they will do. It is shit. It is not something I particularly enjoy. Then maybe I can remember that it might not just be a me problem, I might not be as lazy as my dream shitter would like me to believe, and maybe it is just part and parcel of getting shit done. As we all know, around these parts we tend to be so fucking hard on ourselves and we are only ever a hop, skip and a jump away from finding fault in ourselves or blaming ourselves to something. But what if things just take longer than you think they do and that's just a life thing and not a you thing? As humans in general, not just you specific, we tend to be pretty wildly inaccurate when it comes to estimating the time something will take to be done. And there is also always more faff and bumpf to do.
We start doing one thing, it leads us to these five other things and these two bonus things we had no idea we needed to do. And before we know it we are miles away and hours away from where we started and where we thought we would be. Now don't get me wrong, I do not relish in this fact. It frustrates me to high heavens and beyond. But when I can remember that things just do take longer, and it's not that I'm lazy or I'm doing something wrong or I could have done it a different way, well then I can start to take the pressure off. I can still be frustrated, but I can be less frustrated at myself. A good strategy can be generally taking any amount of time you think something is going to take and timesing it by three and giving yourself that amount of time. And while up front that can seem pretty aggravating and really fucking annoying at best, it perhaps can give us a more realistic idea about what we can get done and also encourage us to be even more intentional.
Because if things take longer than we thought they would and we can't necessarily get through everything in a day, that can be a really helpful way of prioritising. So I am a million percent joining you in stamping my feet wholeheartedly about how long things can take, how seemingly little things can turn into absolute giant fuckers. But here's to getting annoyed at the thing rather than ourselves. Because if we looked at the facts, not what our inner dream shitter has to say, not what the wider world has to say about hustling and productivity, we would probably find that we are much further along than we think we are. So happy hump day. You are doing a fabulous job, whether you think you are or not. And I am sending you, as well as myself, a shitload of patience. I'll see you tomorrow.

1441: Lean into the kinder stories
Today's episode is a loving reminder that for as loud and as convincing as your inner dreamsh*tter can be, it really truly is a liar.
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Tuesday to you. So one of the things that we all have in common around here is that we are creative. Whether that is traditionally creative in terms of we love getting our hands covered in paint, or the ways in which we approach creating our lives and designing our own paths. Now, I've had a bit of a theory for a while now that our dream chitter also has access to our creativity. And because of that, it can go really wild when it comes to the bullshit it makes up. Our creativity lets it do even more advanced mental gymnastics. And we can be really creative when it comes to conjuring up all the ways things can go wrong and all of the catastrophes. And that also extends to the stories we can maybe create about what other people think about us.
That couldn't be further than the truth. But like many creative things, it's so easy just to get lost in it. And when our dream shitter gets creative, well, it can really lead you down the garden path. So for today's daily pep, I simply want to pop in and remind you that your dream shitter is a fucking liar. It may sound convincing as hell, and that's because it has access to your most tender parts and it knows what buttons to push. And mix that with your fabulous creativity, well, you are in for a hell of a ride. I used to have a postcard in my office that read, worrying is a misuse of imagination. And on some days I'd look at it and think, I'll just fuck off.
And on other days I'd think, actually, if I am so good at using my imagination to conjure up all this awful shit, then can't I use it to actually look at what might go right as well? So I'm sharing this today just in case your dream shitter is giving you a really hard time or you're getting lost in stories that probably aren't true, to remind you that as convincing as your inner dream shitter is, it is a liar. It can be so painful precisely because it knows what to say to stop you from doing the scary thing. And it knows what will hurt. But you are so much bigger than your inner dream shitter. You can create way better stories, way kinder stories. And that's ultimately what I wanted to remind you of today. Lean into the kinder stories and see if you can have some fun with your creativity. So that's all for now.
I can't wait to be back with you tomorrow. Take care. And please keep remembering that everything changes when you believe you matter. And you, my darling do.

1440: What do you need to put on charge?
While we’re so busy just surviving, it can sometimes feel impossible to look a bit further ahead down the road at what we need. So today’s episode is a gentle nudge to pause, and plan ahead.
Episode transcript:
Good morning Daily Peppers, and a very happy Monday to you. So we all have things that we are really good at and some things that we're really not that good at. For example, I am really good at at remembering all the birthdays of people I went to primary school with, which was many moons away that I haven't even seen for at least 20 years. And I'm also really good at taking somebody's seed of an idea and turning it into an entire life plan and then figuring out where we get started. And some things I am not very good at include keeping houseplants alive. I know so many people in our fabulous community are green fingered. I am not one of them and I absolutely suck at remembering to charge things, getting excited to do things that involves the thing I forgot to keep charged, and then putting myself off the whole endeavor. Now today's daily prep is not about getting better at the things we suck at, but it is a gentle nudge to have a look at what you've got coming up and if there is anything that needs metaphorically charging.
For so many of us this year has been so far about surviving and occasionally thriving and we've been living in the moment and there are so many things to do and there's so many places we want to be and so many places that we have to be that we can arrive at everything a bit frazzled. So what can you do this week to give your future self a tiny head start when it comes to something that is coming up for you and just make it that bit easier? Sometimes it is really helpful to pause and get a bit of a lay of the land and have a bit of a peek of what the next couple of months looks like. Not an attempt to get everything done, but in the way that you can see what the next season might be demanding of you and figure out what might be helpful for you right now. And just to be clear, there is to be no beating ourselves up for the fact that we've been in survival mode. And also, if you feel like right now there's no way you can stop and catch your breath and look at what's coming up for you. Remember that often the time we most need to take a break is most often when we feel like the entire sky will fall in if we do. So grab any moments of calm or any type of break you can get and know that that is a priority. Here's to being multifaceted humans who are great at some things, not so great at other things, knowing that that is what makes life interesting.
And it is a human thing, not a personal flaw thing. And here's to figuring out what we need to put on charge. I'll see you tomorrow.

1439: An average book is better than no book
We can put so much pressure on watching the best film, starting the right project, or picking the best book to read. So today's episode is a helpful reframe to take the pressure off.
Episode transcript:
Good morning, Daily Peppers, and a very happy Friday to you. So if you haven't noticed, we live in an age where everything has to be optimized and there are so many choices. And I don't know about you, but I can find it pretty overwhelming. And rather than having a cozy night in watching a film, I can end up spending so long trying to find just the right film. And it can be easy for that to extend into so many different areas of our lives. For example, when we're trying to pick a new hobby, when we're trying to pick our next creative project. And so many of these things that should be fun can become a really overwhelming mess really quickly. So today's Daily Pep is in praise for watching an average film or reading an average book, or doing an average job at an average craft project.
Because not everything has to be the best. Our time and energy are such precious resources, and it is time to reclaim them. Recently I've been in a reading rut, and usually I'll go down a rabbit hole of trying to figure out what would be the best genre or what would be a good book to get me out of it, and I end up right down the rabbit hole reading all the reviews, and before I know it, I've probably spent the same amount of time it would take to actually read a book trying to find a fucking book. And one of those options is much more lovely than the other one. So this time I just picked a book that I already had with a pretty cover that looks slightly intriguing and just gave it a shot. And it was a really brilliant book, and that was pure luck and I'll take it. But even if it had been average at best, I know for me, reading is something that really helps my mental health. It helps regulate my nervous system, and an average book is a million times better than no book.
So as we are heading into the weekend, I invite you to intentionally not optimize everything. If you've been wanting to start something, whether it is a project, whether it is a book, or you want to take your mind off things for a while, just pick up the nearest and easiest thing. So much of the time it is about taking action, any action, and it all gets easier from there and becomes a whole lot less overwhelming than trying to find the right place to start, start somewhere, start anywhere and enjoy. I can't wait to be back with you right here on the Daily Pep on Monday morning or in your fabulous inbox on Sunday. If you're part of my email community and you can find out more about how to get in on that or by going to thereevelrouses.com letters or click the handy link in the show notes. I look forward to seeing you soon, and remember, as always, that everything changes when you believe you matter.
